Abstract
Description
本願の開示は、2021年8月19日に出願された特願2021-133876号に記載の主題と関連しており、これら全ての開示内容は引用によりここに援用される。
本発明の一実施形態である活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスは、少なくともロジン変性樹脂と、重合禁止剤と、活性エネルギー線硬化型化合物とを含む。以下、上記コーティングワニスの構成成分について、より具体的に説明する。
活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスは、重合禁止剤を含む。重合禁止剤は、常法によって添加し、使用することができる。活性化エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスにおける重合禁止剤の配合量は、硬化性を阻害しない観点から、活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスの全質量を基準として、3質量%以下であることが好ましい。上記配合量は、0.01~1質量%の範囲であることがさらに好ましい。
一実施形態において、重合禁止剤は、分子中にピペリジン構造を有する化合物を含むことが好ましい。特に、ピペリジン環上の2位および6位に、各々2個ずつ(計4個)の炭化水素基を有する化合物が好ましい。このような化合物の具体例として、2,2,6,6-テトラアルキルピペリジン誘導体、2,2,6,6-テトラメチルピペリジン誘導体、1-アルキル-2,2,6,6-テトラメチルピペリジン誘導体、および1-ヒドロ-2,2,6,6-テトラメチルピペリジン誘導体等のヒンダートアミン系化合物が挙げられる。重合禁止剤として、ヒンダートアミン系化合物から選択される1種以上の化合物を使用することが好ましい。このような化合物を使用した場合、印刷機械での硬化反応を阻害でき、優れた保存安定性を容易に提供できる。
本発明におけるロジン変性樹脂とは、樹脂骨格中に、ロジン由来の骨格を含有する樹脂を意味する。樹脂がロジン由来の骨格を含有することで、高速印刷時でのUV照射による硬化収縮を抑えることができ、また乾燥被膜の平滑性を維持することができ、そのことによって、光沢性、および基材に対する密着性の向上が可能となる。
本発明の実施形態において、ロジン変性樹脂を得るために用いるロジン酸類(A)とは、環式ジテルペン骨格を有する一塩基酸を指し、ロジン酸、不均化ロジン酸、水添ロジン酸、又は上記化合物のアルカリ金属塩等であってよい。具体的には、共役二重結合を有するアビエチン酸およびその共役化合物である、ネオアビエチン酸、パラストリン酸、およびレボピマル酸が挙げられる。また、共役二重結合を有さない、ピマル酸、イソピマル酸、サンダラコピマル酸、およびデヒドロアビエチン酸等が挙げられる。さらに、これらのロジン酸類(A)を含有する天然樹脂として、ガムロジン、ウッドロジン、およびトール油ロジン等が挙げられる。
一実施形態において、ロジン変性樹脂を得るために使用するα,β-不飽和カルボン酸又はその酸無水物(B)の具体例としては、マレイン酸、フマル酸、シトラコン酸、イタコン酸、クロトン酸、イソクロトン酸等、およびこれらの酸無水物が挙げられる。ロジン酸類(A)との反応性の観点から、マレイン酸又はその酸無水物が好ましい。
本発明の実施形態において、ロジン変性樹脂を得るために、ロジン酸類(A)、α,β-不飽和カルボン酸又はその酸無水物(B)、および脂肪酸(D)に加えて、その他の有機酸類の1種を単独で又は2種類以上を組合せて使用することもできる。
その他の有機酸類の配合量は、ロジン変性樹脂の原料の全配合量を基準として、0~30質量%であることが好ましく、0~20質量%であることがさらに好ましい。すなわち、樹脂原料の全配合量を基準として、上記その他の有機酸類の配合量は、好ましくは30質量%以下であってよく、より好ましくは20質量%以下であってよい。一実施形態において、上記その他の有機酸類の配合量は0質量%であってもよい。

ポリオール(C)は、ロジン酸類(A)に含まれる共役二重結合を有する有機酸とα,β-不飽和カルボン酸又はその酸無水物(B)とのディールスアルダー反応によって得られる化合物、ロジン酸類(A)のうち共役二重結合を有さない有機酸、脂肪酸(D)、およびその他の有機酸のそれぞれとの反応によって、エステル結合を形成する。本発明の実施形態において、ロジン変性樹脂を得るために、以下に例示するポリオールの1種を単独で又は2種類以上を組合せて使用することができる。ポリオールの具体例として以下が挙げられるが、これらに限定されるものではない。

一実施形態において、脂肪酸(D)は、ロジン酸類(A)に含まれる共役二重結合を有する有機酸とα,β-不飽和カルボン酸又はその酸無水物(B)とのディールスアルダー反応によって得られる化合物、ロジン酸類(A)のうち共役二重結合を有さない有機酸、およびその他の有機酸のそれぞれとポリオール(C)との反応によって形成されるエステル結合を有する生成物における水酸基と反応して、追加のエステル結合を形成する。
脂肪酸(D)の具体例として、アマニ油脂肪酸、桐油脂肪酸、ひまし油脂肪酸、大豆油脂肪酸、トール油脂肪酸、ヌカ油脂肪酸、パーム油脂肪酸、ヤシ油脂肪酸、脱水ひまし油脂肪酸、カプリン酸、ウンデカン酸、ラウリン酸、ミリスチン酸、パルミチン酸、ステアリン酸、イソステアリン酸、オレイン酸、リノール酸、リノレン酸等が挙げられる。但し、使用できる脂肪酸(D)はこれらに限定されない。
ここで、ロジン変性樹脂、および上記活性エネルギー線硬化型化合物は、後述するワニスの形態で調製して使用してもよい。
本明細書において、活性エネルギー線硬化型化合物とは、分子内に(メタ)アクリロイル基を有する化合物を意味する。
本発明の実施形態である活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスを構成するために使用可能な活性エネルギー線硬化型化合物の具体例として、

活性エネルギー線硬化型化合物として、例示した化合物の1種を単独で使用しても、又は2種以上を組合せて使用してもよい。
ベンゾイン、ベンゾインイソプロピルエーテル、ベンゾインイソブチルエーテル等のベンゾイン系、
1-ヒドロキシシクロヘキシル-フェニルケトンとベンゾフェノンとの混合物、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキサイド、ビス(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)-フェニルホスフィンオキサイド等のアシルホスフィンオキサイド系、
ベンジル、メチルフェニルグリオキシエステル、および3,3’,4,4’-テトラ(t-ブチルパーオキシカルボニル)ベンゾフェノン等が挙げられる。
2-イソプロピルチオキサントン、2,4-ジメチルチオキサントン、2,4-ジエチルチオキサントン、2,4-ジクロロチオキサントン等のチオキサントン系、
ミヒラーケトン、4,4’-ビスジエチルアミノベンゾフェノン等のアミノベンゾフェノン系、
10-ブチル-2-クロロアクリドン、2-エチルアンスラキノン、9,10-フェナンスレンキノン、およびカンファーキノン等が挙げられる。
光重合開始剤は、1種を単独で使用しても、必要に応じて2種以上を組合せて使用してもよい。
光増感剤としては、例えば、トリエタノールアミン、メチルジエタノールアミン、ジメチルエタノールアミン、トリイソプロパノールアミン、4-ジメチルアミノ安息香酸メチル、4-ジメチルアミノ安息香酸エチル、4-ジメチルアミノ安息香酸イソアミル、安息香酸(2-ジメチルアミノ)エチル、4-ジメチルアミノ安息香酸(n-ブトキシ)エチル、および4-ジメチルアミノ安息香酸2-エチルヘキシル等のアミン類が挙げられる。
本発明の一実施形態である活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスは、ロジン変性樹脂を含む活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニス用ワニスから製造することもできる。
特に限定するものではないが、ハイドロキノン、p-メトキシフェノール、t-ブチルハイドロキノン、p-ベンゾキノン、2,5-ジ-tert-ブチル-p-ベンゾキノンからなる群から選択される1種以上の化合物を使用することが好ましい。
一実施形態において、活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニス用ワニス中の重合禁止剤の含有量は、活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスが含有する重合禁止剤の全質量を基準として、0~80質量%であることが好ましく、0~60質量%であることがより好ましい。すなわち、上記ワニス中の重合禁止剤の含有量は、上記コーティングニスが含有する重合禁止剤の全質量を基準として、80質量%以下であることが好ましく、60質量%以下であることがより好ましい。一実施形態において、上記ワニス中の重合禁止剤の含有量は0質量%であってもよい。
具体的には、ロジン変性樹脂と、トリメチロールプロパンエチレンオキサイド付加物トリアクリレートと、ハイドロキノンとを、100℃の温度条件で、加熱溶融して得たワニス等を好適に使用することができる。
紫外線を発生源としては、例えば、LED、超高圧水銀ランプ、高圧水銀ランプ、中圧水銀ランプ、低圧水銀ランプ、メタルハライドランプ、キセノンランプ、カーボンアークランプ、ヘリウム・カドミウムレーザー、YAGレーザー、エキシマレーザー、およびアルゴンレーザーなどが挙げられる。
本発明の一実施形態である積層体は、基材と、この基材上に上記実施形態の活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスを用いて形成される硬化層とを有する。他の実施形態において、上記積層体は、基材にインキを印刷した印刷物と、この印刷物の印刷面上に上記実施形態の活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスを用いて形成される硬化層とを有する。これらの積層体は、基材上、又は基材にインキを印刷した印刷物の印刷面上に、上記実施形態の活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスを印刷又は塗工し、硬化させることによって得られる。上記コーティングニスの硬化は、活性エネルギー線を照射することによって実施できる。活性エネルギー線として、例えば、紫外線を使用することができる。
基材としては、特に制限はなく、公知の基材を使用することができる。具体例として、アート紙、コート紙、およびキャスト紙などの塗工紙、上質紙、中質紙、および新聞用紙などの非塗工紙、ユポ紙などの合成紙、並びにPET(ポリエチレンテレフタレート)、PP(ポリプロピレン)、およびOPP(2軸延伸ポリプロピレン)のようなプラスチックフィルムなどが挙げられる。
また、印刷物を得るために基材に印刷するインキは特に限定されない。インキとして、オフセット印刷、グラビア印刷、フレキソ印刷、インクジェット印刷等の公知の印刷方法に適した任意のインキを使用することができる。
(重量平均分子量)
重量平均分子量は、東ソー株式会社製のゲルパーミエーションクロマトグラフィ(HLC-8320)で測定した。検量線は標準ポリスチレンサンプルにより作成した。また、溶離液としてテトラヒドロフランを用い、カラムとしてTSKgel SuperHM-M(東ソー株式会社製)を3本用いた。測定は、流速0.6mL/分、注入量10μL、およびカラム温度40℃の条件下で行った。
酸価は、中和滴定法によって測定した。具体的には、先ず、キシレン:エタノール=2:1の質量比で混合した溶媒20mLに、ロジン変性樹脂1gを溶解させ、ロジン変性樹脂の溶液を得た。次いで、先に調製したロジン変性樹脂の溶液に、指示薬として3質量%のフェノールフタレイン溶液を3mL加えた後に、0.1mol/Lのエタノール性水酸化カリウム溶液で中和滴定を行った。酸価の単位は、mgKOH/gである。
原料として使用するロジン酸類をガスクロマトグラフィー質量分析計で分析し、全ロジン酸ピーク面積100%に対する、各ピーク面積比(%)を求めた。より具体的には、ロジン酸類中に含まれ、α,β-不飽和カルボン酸又はその酸無水物(B)とディールスアルダー付加反応を起こす共役系ロジン酸と、上記共役系ロジン酸以外の成分との含有比を、それぞれ該当するピーク面積の比から求めた。
ディールスアルダー付加反応の反応液をガスクロマトグラフィー質量分析計で分析し、原料として使用した、ロジン酸類(A)、およびα,β-不飽和カルボン酸又はその酸無水物(B)の検出ピークの減少によって反応の進行を確認した。検出ピークの減少に変化が見られない時点で反応を終了した。
以下に示す実施例および比較例の処方に従い、ロジン変性樹脂、ワニス、および活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスをそれぞれ調製した。
なお、以下に示す処方で使用したガムロジンは、α,β-不飽和カルボン酸又はその酸無水物(B)とディールスアルダー付加反応を起こす共役系ロジン酸の含有量が80質量%であり、上記共役系ロジン酸以外の含有量が20質量%であった。
(合成例1)
攪拌機、水分離器付き還流冷却器、および温度計を備えた4つ口フラスコに、ガムロジン37部と無水マレイン酸19部とを仕込み、窒素ガスを吹き込みながら、180℃で1時間にわたって加熱することにより、反応混合物を得た。次いで、先に説明したように、反応混合物のガスクロマトグラフ質量分析によって、ディールスアルダー付加反応が完了したことを確認した。
次に、上記反応混合物に、テトラヒドロ無水フタル酸10部と、ネオペンチルグリコール25部と、トリメチロールプロパン9部と、触媒として、p-トルエンスルホン酸一水和物0.1部とを添加し、240℃で8時間にわたって脱水縮合反応を行い、樹脂1を得た。
樹脂1の酸価は70であり、GPC測定ポリスチレン換算での重量平均分子量(Mw)は24,000であった。
攪拌機、水分離器付き還流冷却器、および温度計を備えた4つ口フラスコに、ガムロジン46部と無水マレイン酸13部とを仕込み、窒素ガスを吹き込みながら、180℃で1時間にわたって加熱することにより、反応混合物を得た。次に、上記反応混合物に、1,4-シクロヘキサンジメタノール4部と、ネオペンチルグリコール19部と、トリメチロールプロパン6部と、触媒として、p-トルエンスルホン酸一水和物0.1部とを添加し、240℃で8時間にわたって脱水縮合反応を行った後、トール油脂肪酸12部を添加し、3時間にわたって脱水縮合反応を行い、樹脂2を得た。樹脂2の酸価は52であり、Mwは7,500であった。
合成例2と同様の操作にて、表1に示す配合組成で樹脂3を得た。樹脂3の酸価は55であり、Mwは8,600であった。
合成例2と同様の操作にて、表1に示す配合組成で樹脂4を得た。樹脂4の酸価は44であり、Mwは33,700であった。
合成例2と同様の操作にて、表1に示す配合組成で樹脂5を得た。樹脂5の酸価は35であり、Mwは32,100であった。
合成例2と同様の操作にて、表1に示す配合組成で樹脂6を得た。樹脂6の酸価は56であり、Mwは4,100であった。
合成例2と同様の操作にて、表1に示す配合組成で樹脂7を得た。樹脂7の酸価は78であり、Mwは15,400であった。
合成例2と同様の操作にて、表1に示す配合組成で樹脂8を得た。樹脂8の酸価は59であり、Mwは28,300であった。
株式会社大阪ソーダ製のジアリルフタレート樹脂「DAP A」を使用した。
攪拌機、水分離器付き還流冷却器、および温度計を備えた4つ口フラスコに、無水マレイン酸48部と、ネオペンチルグリコール31部と、トリメチロールプロパン21部と、触媒として、p-トルエンスルホン酸一水和物0.1部とを添加し、窒素ガスを吹き込みながら、240℃で9時間にわたって脱水縮合反応を行い、樹脂Bを得た。
樹脂Bの酸価は21であり、GPC測定ポリスチレン換算での重量平均分子量(Mw)は25,000であった。
攪拌機、水分離器付き還流冷却器、および温度計を備えた4つ口フラスコに、無水マレイン酸10部と、テトラヒドロ無水フタル酸37部と、1,4-シクロヘキサンジメタノール11部と、ネオペンチルグリコール21部と、トリメチロールプロパン11部と、触媒として、p-トルエンスルホン酸一水和物0.1部とを添加し、窒素ガスを吹き込みながら、240℃で7時間にわたって脱水縮合反応を行った後、トール油脂肪酸10部を添加し、3時間にわたって脱水縮合反応を行い、樹脂Cを得た。
樹脂Cの酸価は23であり、GPC測定ポリスチレン換算での重量平均分子量(Mw)は22,000であった。
上述の方法で得た樹脂1~8、樹脂B、樹脂C、および、樹脂Aについて、それぞれ、樹脂を55部、トリメチロールプロパンエチレンオキサイド付加物トリアクリレート44.9部、およびハイドロキノン0.1部を入れて混合し、これらを100℃で加熱溶融することで、ワニス1~8、A、B、Cを得た。なお、トリメチロールプロパンエチレンオキサイド付加物トリアクリレートとしては、東亞合成社製アロニックスM-350を使用した。
(実施例1~11、および比較例A~D)
表2に記載の材料を混合し、50℃で30分撹拌することで実施例1~11、比較例A~Dの活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスを得た。
なお、ワニスとしては、上記方法で得られた活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニス用ワニスを用いた。トリメチロールプロパンエチレンオキサイド付加物トリアクリレートとしては、東亞合成社製アロニックスM-350を用いた。また、ポリストップ7300Pは、伯東株式会社製の分子中にピペリジン構造を有する化合物からなる重合禁止剤である。
先に調製した実施例1~11、比較例A~Dの活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスについて、下記の方法に従い、製品の安定性と印刷皮膜適性を評価した。
(保存安定性の評価)
実施例1~11、比較例A~Dの活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスを、密閉した容器中で60℃にて1週間静置した。撹拌後、80メッシュの金属メッシュにて濾過し、メッシュ上の凝集物の量を目視で評価した。評価基準「3」以上で、実用上問題ないレベルである。
(評価基準)
5:凝集物が全くない。
4:僅かに小さな凝集物が存在する。
3:小さな凝集物が存在する。
2:小さな凝集物と、僅かに大きな凝集物が存在する。
1:大きな凝集物が多数存在する。
実施例1~11、比較例A~Dの活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスを、100mlの褐色ポリ瓶に60g入れ、蓋をせず、大気中、蛍光灯下で24時間放置した。その後、活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスの表面硬化状態を目視で評価した。評価基準「3」以上で、実用上問題ないレベルである。
(評価基準)
5:表面硬化が全く発生していない。
4:表面の一部(面積の1%未満)に、表面硬化が発生している。
3:表面の一部(面積の1%以上10%未満)に、表面硬化が発生している。
2:表面の一部(面積の面積の10%以上50%未満)に、表面硬化が発生している。
1:表面の一部(面積の50%以上)、又は全部に、表面硬化が発生している。
FDカルトンX(東洋インキ(株)製の活性エネルギー線硬化型インキ)の墨インキを、RIテスター(明製作所製簡易展色装置)を用いて、マリコート紙(北越製紙社製コートボール紙)へ1g/m2の塗布量で印刷した。次いで、印刷物の表面(インキ層)に対して、120W/cmの空冷メタルハライドランプ(東芝社製)1灯を用いて60m/minで紫外線を照射し、インキ層を硬化させた。
次に、硬化させたインキ層上に、実施例1~11、比較例A~Dの活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスをバーコーター♯2にて塗工し、塗工層を形成した。次に、塗工層に対して、120W/cmの空冷メタルハライドランプ(東芝社製)1灯を用いて60m/minで紫外線を照射し、上記塗工層を硬化させ(硬化層を形成し)、積層体を得た。
上記のようにして得た積層体に対し、光沢計グロスメーターモデルGM-26((株)村上色彩技術研究所製)を用いて、試験サンプルの60°光沢値を測定した。得られた光沢値から光沢性を以下の基準に従い、5段階で評価した。光沢値の数値が高い程、光沢が良いことを表す。評価基準「3」以上で、実用上問題ないレベルである。

5:光沢値が80以上である。
4:光沢値が60以上80未満である。
3:光沢値が40以上60未満である。
2:光沢値が20以上40未満である。
1:光沢値が20未満である。
耐摩擦性は、上記のようにして得た積層体の印刷面(塗膜)に対し、JIS-K5701-1に準じて、試験を行い評価した、具体的には、学振型摩擦堅牢度試験機(テスター産業社製)を用いて、摩擦用紙として上質紙を500g加重で塗膜表面を500回往復させた。次いで、摩擦面(塗膜表面)の変化を目視にて観察し、以下の基準に従い5段階で評価した。評価基準「3」以上で、実用上問題ないレベルである。

5:印刷面の変化なし。
4:印刷面の一部でキズが見られるが、剥離は見られない。
3:印刷面の一部(面積の10%未満)に剥離が見られる。
2:印刷面の一部(面積の10%以上50%未満)に剥離が見られる。
1:印刷面の一部(面積の50%以上)、又は全部に剥離が見られる。
次に、硬化させたインキ層上に、実施例1~11、比較例A~Dの活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスを、バーコーター♯2を用いて塗工し、塗工層を形成した、次いで、塗工層に対して、120W/cmの空冷メタルハライドランプ(東芝社製)1灯を用いて60m/minで紫外線を照射し、上記塗工層を硬化させ(硬化層を形成し)、積層体を得た。またPETフィルムの代わりにPPフィルムを使用し、上記方法と同様にして積層体を得た。
上記のようにして得たPETフィルムおよびPPフィルムへの各積層体に対し、セロハンテープ剥離試験を行い、密着性を評価した。試験後の印刷物の表面を目視で観察し、密着性を以下の基準に従い、5段階で評価した。評価基準「3」で、実用上問題ないレベルである。

5:印刷面の変化なし。
4:印刷面の一部でキズが見られるが、剥離は見られない。
3:印刷面の一部(面積の10%未満)に剥離が見られる。
2:印刷面の一部(面積の10~50%未満)に剥離が見られる。
1:印刷面の一部(面積の50%以上)、又は全部に剥離が見られる。
より詳細には、比較例Dの活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスに見られるように、重合禁止剤が含まれていない時、ニス中で発生するラジカルをトラップできず、重合反応が進行するため、保存安定性、印刷機での安定性が低下した。
一方、比較例A~Cの活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスでは、ロジン酸類(A)が含まれていない。そのため、UV照射による硬化収縮を抑えられず、乾燥被膜の平滑性を維持することができないため、光沢性が低下していると考えられる。同様に、硬化収縮により乾燥被膜のカールが発生し、密着性が低下していると考えられる
比較例Bの活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスでは、耐摩擦性が低下する結果となった。これは、酸成分がα,β-不飽和カルボン酸又はその酸無水物(B)のみで構成されており、樹脂の剛直性が不十分となることが、硬化膜の強度低下に影響したと考えられる。
マリコート紙、PETフィルム、およびPPフィルムに、実施例1~11、比較例A~Dの活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスを、バーコーター♯2を用いて塗工し、塗工層を形成した。次いで、塗工層に対して、120W/cmの空冷メタルハライドランプ(東芝社製)1灯を用いて60m/minで紫外線を照射して、上記塗工層を硬化させ(硬化層を形成し)、積層体を得た。

- 前記ロジン変性樹脂が、ロジン酸類(A)およびα,β-不飽和カルボン酸又はその酸無水物(B)の付加反応物と、ポリオール(C)と、脂肪酸(D)との反応物である、請求項1に記載の活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニス。
- 前記脂肪酸(D)の配合量が、前記ロジン変性樹脂の原料の全配合量を基準として、5~25質量%である、請求項3に記載の活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニス。
- 前記ロジン変性樹脂の重量平均分子量が、3,000~30,000である、請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニス。
- 前記重合禁止剤が、分子中にピペリジン構造を有する化合物を含む、請求項1~5のいずれか1項に記載の活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニス。
- 基材と、前記基材上に請求項1~6のいずれか1項に記載の活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスを用いて形成される硬化層とを有する、積層体。
- 基材にインキを印刷した印刷物と、前記印刷物の印刷面上に、請求項1~6のいずれか1項に記載の活性エネルギー線硬化型コーティングニスを用いて形成した硬化層とを有する、積層体。
