Abstract

发明背景和技术领域
本发明一般涉及纤维,更具体地涉及改性的玻璃纤维,其使用于结合入复合材料的加工步骤简化(streamline)。
许多复合材料包括作为粘合基体中增强元件的微尺度(micro-scale)纤维。已经制备了在这些传统复合材料中结合碳纳米管(CNT)的多尺度复合材料。用于CNT结合入复合材料的一种方法包括用CNT掺杂基体。但是,由于粘度增加,可添加到基体的CNT的数量具有限制。而且,这种方法通常不控制CNT排列,其进一步阻止多尺度复合材料实现CNT结合的总潜力。
用于CNT结合入多尺度复合材料的另一种方法包括通过直接或间接合成施加CNT到纤维表面上,然后将纤维引入基体。这可通过在纤维表面上放置催化剂材料并从沉积的催化剂生长CNT实现,或通过使用浮动催化剂合成CNT并将CNT沉积到纤维表面上实现。两种方法产生改进的CNT排列,同时增加在最终复合材料中CNT的总数量。但是,使用额外的处理步骤改进CNT和催化剂颗粒与纤维表面之间的界面性质。没有这些步骤,这些界面之间差的粘附可导致比预期差的性能。
降低生长过程总体复杂性以及改进CNT-催化剂-表面的界面性质的方法将是有益的。本发明满足这种需要并且也提供了相关的优点。
发明简述

发明详述
本发明部分地涉及在纤维制造过程期间通过嵌入CNT生长催化剂纳米颗粒(CNT NP)促进碳纳米管(CNT)在玻璃纤维基底上生长的方法。所得CNT通过机械和/或化学锁定(locked)的CNT NP充分地锚定于玻璃纤维,这提高了CNT和它们所附着的纤维的界面性质。按照本领域已知的当前制造方法,两种方法典型地用于改进CNT与玻璃纤维基底的总的界面性质。一种方法包括蚀刻纤维表面,以促进催化剂颗粒和表面的机械连锁。通过湿化学或基于等离子体(离子)的工艺可实现蚀刻。尽管蚀刻的结果和本发明相似,但是机械连锁的程度可不如本发明的嵌入催化剂有效,由于在纤维制造期间被结合,所述嵌入催化剂和纤维更好地连续共形(conformal)接触。此外,蚀刻工艺固有地添加表面粗糙,其在纤维表面提供了破裂起点。所以,蚀刻可使纤维材料劣化。
本领域采用的用于改进颗粒至纤维基底粘附的另一种方法是化学官能化。这包括在纤维上引入化学活性位点,其可以与纤维和CNT NP表面两者结合。这些化学键为机械载荷转移提供路径。官能化还是湿化学和基于等离子体(离子)性质的产物,虽然通过用特定种类掺杂溶液和等离子体流添加或制造了各种官能团。官能化是可以引入一些化学部分而不对纤维表面造成损坏的技术。促进金属和有机表面之间粘合的官能化方法尤其有利,尽管目前数量较少。促进纤维金属粘合的官能化例子包括胺、羧基、羰基、羟基、氟、硝酸盐、磷酸盐、硫酸盐和硅烷。化学官能化可导致在纤维表面上官能团分布不一致。本发明的方法消除了对官能化化学的需要,从而避免了任何表面不一致。
通过在纤维制造水平下在玻璃纤维中结合CNT NP,本发明克服了上述缺点。所述方法在生成并入CNT的纤维和它们随后在复合材料中的结合方面,减少了处理步骤和成本。CNT NP在纤维中嵌入改进了CNT NP和纤维表面之间有效的载荷转移。当CNT NP在纤维制造过程期间结合时,沿着整个纤维表面嵌入该CNT NP,这提供了均匀的纳米颗粒涂层和因而均匀地CNT生长。这些嵌入的CNT NP提供了更有效的转移载荷的方式,因为CNT NP直接并入玻璃纤维表面。通过在纤维制造水平下结合CNT生长催化剂,还简化了用于在玻璃纤维表面上合成CNT的总的过程。而且,与施加CNT NP到紧密充填的预制粗纱相比,当制造玻璃粗纱时,可更容易实现单个丝的有效覆盖。
在玻璃纤维制造设备(在图1中所示例的)中,在下料模(bushing)出口位置,CNT NP可添加到玻璃纤维,如在图2A中所指示的。如在本领域通常实施的,从下料模出来的纤维可使用水喷嘴迅速冷却。在一些实施方式中,CNT NP可被包括在冷却水中,并施加至纤维,作为冷却工艺的一部分。在其他实施方式中,CNT NP可布置在纤维上,然后立即将新生纤维经过水冷却喷嘴。本领域技术人员将意识到新形成纤维的迅速冷却有助于保持无定形玻璃结构。因此,当就在暴露于水冷却喷嘴之前施加CNT NP时,从下料模出口到CNT NP在水冷却喷嘴沉积的距离可以相当小。
可选地,随着纤维穿过下料模形成,CNT NP可添加到熔融玻璃混合物。在一些这样的实施方式中,就在穿过前炉中下料模之前,CNT NP可添加到熔融玻璃,如在下面进一步描述和在图1和图2B中所显示的。随着纤维被拉出,通过向熔融混合物中添加纳米颗粒,CNT NP遍布在纤维表面上,虽然一些CNT NP可贯穿整个玻璃纤维结构存在。为了保护CNT NP的完整性,在一些实施方式中,它们用氧化铝的保护层或其他多孔陶瓷涂层涂覆。当采用这种涂层时,应当调整在下游CNT生长中CNT NP获得的试剂。
无论在下料模之前或之后引入CNT NP,嵌入在纤维表面上的CNTNP可被机械地并入至表面。在一些实施方式中,嵌入的CNT NP也还可与纤维化学结合。当采用氧化物形式的CNT NP时,这种结合可包括硅氧金属桥联键。通过机械和/或化学并入,在CNT生长期间纳米颗粒可保持锚定于玻璃纤维,并因此可提供机械性质从CNT到纤维的有效转移。
最后,虽然参考玻璃纤维进行了本文公开的实施方式,但是考虑到本文提供的教导和指导,本领域技术人员将意识到施加这些教导到包括碳、陶瓷、金属和有机纤维的其他纤维类型的能力。例如,在聚丙烯腈(PAN)碳纤维的情况下,在它们的合成期间,CNT NP可结合整个聚丙烯腈纤维。当石墨化工艺用于将PAN转化为碳纤维时,CNT NP是留下的“后生物(artifact)”。所以,CNT NP在碳纤维表面中机械连锁,其可以与描述玻璃纤维基底类似的方式改进CNT和碳纤维表面之间的界面性质。
如本文所使用,术语“熔融的”指其中玻璃材料可变形和/或表面有延展性的状态。例如,熔融状态的温度可以高于软化点。“软化点”的使用方式和它在本领域的描述无定形玻璃结构熔点的等价物的使用一致。
如本文所使用,术语“过渡金属”指周期表d-块中任何元素或者元素合金。术语“过渡金属”还可包括f-块中镧系元素和锕系元素。
如本文所使用,术语“过渡金属氧化物”指元素周期表d-块中任何氧化物形式的任何元素或者元素合金。例如,氧化铁可以是二价(II)铁氧化物或三价(III)铁氧化物。术语“过渡金属氧化物”还可包括f-块中镧系元素和锕系元素的氧化物形式。
如本文所使用,术语“纳米颗粒”或者NP(复数是NPs)或者其语法等价物指的是尺寸在当量球形直径大约0.1至大约100纳米之间的颗粒,尽管NPs形状不必是球形的。具体地,过渡金属NPs用作玻璃纤维材料上进一步CNT生长的催化剂。

在一些实施方式中,本发明涉及如此方法,其包括形成熔融的玻璃纤维芯并在软化温度下或高于软化温度下围绕熔融的玻璃纤维芯布置包括过渡金属氧化物的多个纳米颗粒,从而形成负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维。负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维具有多个纳米颗粒在它的表面上嵌入。
现参看图1,显示了用于制造玻璃纤维的炉设备100。原材料110进料到包括三部分室的炉设备100,所述三部分室包括主熔化炉部分120、精炼部分130和前炉140。通过下述步骤制造玻璃纤维:混合原材料110,在该三阶段炉中熔化它们,挤出熔融玻璃通过在前炉140底部的下料模150,冷却丝,并接着施加化学上浆剂以防止磨损和对纤维的其他损坏。接着聚集所述丝并在卷筒160上缠绕成捆(package)。
在一些实施方式中,用于玻璃纤维形成的原材料110可在约1400℃和1700℃之间在熔化炉部分120中熔化。本领域技术人员将意识到该温度范围是示例性的并且可以采用在更低温度和在更高温度下熔化的玻璃。低熔玻璃的例子包括低端玻璃,如E-玻璃。难熔玻璃的例子包括高端玻璃,如S-玻璃。本领域技术人员将意识到尽管参照玻璃“熔化”,但是由于没有真正的熔点——而是软化点——形成无定形玻璃。因此,在任何特定温度下玻璃没有陡变(abrupt)的相变,而是在一定范围的温度内显示出粘弹性的逐渐变化。在一些实施方式中,本发明的方法采用熔融的玻璃如通常在玻璃纤维形成中使用的E-玻璃。在一些实施方式中,熔融的玻璃可包括本领域已知的其他玻璃类型,如A-玻璃、D-玻璃和C-玻璃。用于熔融玻璃的玻璃类型可选自:E-玻璃、A-玻璃、E-CR-玻璃、C-玻璃、D-玻璃、R-玻璃和S-玻璃。E-玻璃包括具有按重量计少于1%的碱性氧化物的铝硼硅酸盐玻璃,并且主要用于玻璃增强的塑料。A-玻璃包括具有少量或者没有氧化硼的碱石灰玻璃。E-CR-玻璃包括具有按重量计少于1%的碱性氧化物的铝石灰硅酸盐,并且具有高的耐酸性。C-玻璃包括具有高的氧化硼含量的碱石灰玻璃,并且用于例如玻璃定长纤维。D-玻璃包括硼硅酸盐玻璃,并且具有高的介电常数。R-玻璃包括硅铝酸盐玻璃,其没有MgO和CaO,并且具有高的机械强度。S-玻璃包括硅铝酸盐玻璃,其没有CaO但有高的MgO含量,并且具有高的拉伸强度。这些玻璃类型中的一种或者多种可被加工成玻璃纤维材料。当前纤维制造中采用的玻璃类型主要是E-玻璃,虽然有基于A-玻璃、E-CR-玻璃、C-玻璃、D-玻璃、R-玻璃和S-玻璃制造的纤维。
回看图1,熔化炉部分120接收为玻璃成分混合物的原材料110。在该第一部分中发生熔化且均匀性增加,包括除去泡沫。熔融的玻璃接着流入精炼炉130,在那里它的温度降低。最后,熔融的玻璃输送到前炉140,在所述前炉的下面安置了一系列用于将熔融玻璃挤出成纤维的下料模150。
玻璃纤维形成可包括挤出和拉细(attenuation)的结合。在挤出中,熔融的玻璃穿过下料模150离开前炉140,所述下料模由耐腐蚀的铂/铑合金制成,具有数量可为约200到约8,000之间的非常细的孔。电加热下料模150,并可精确控制它的温度以保持恒定的玻璃粘度。水喷嘴可用于当丝离开下料模150时冷却它们。拉细是将挤出的熔融玻璃流机械拉制成为直径范围在约4μm到约35μm之间的丝的过程。卷筒160可捕获熔融的流,并因为卷筒160以比熔融玻璃离开下料模150更快的圆周速度旋转,可施加张力将它们拉制成细丝。
在一些实施方式中,当新形成的熔融的玻璃芯离开下料模150时,多个包括过渡金属的纳米颗粒可被置于新形成的熔融的玻璃芯表面。因此,在拉制和缠绕过程期间多个纳米颗粒可被施加到新生玻璃纤维。如在图2A中所指示的,下料模150可装备附件机构200以输送多个纳米颗粒到新形成的熔融玻璃芯。在一些实施方式中,附件机构200配置为施加多个纳米颗粒,然后立即通过在本领域通常采用的水喷嘴迅速冷却。在此阶段的玻璃纤维可以为足够柔软和/或有延展性的状态,以使纳米颗粒将它们本身嵌入玻璃纤维的表面中。在一些实施方式中,附件机构200可以和发热元件可操作地连接,以在纳米颗粒施加期间保持该区域的高温度。
在图2A的结构中,可以在载气或载液中输送过渡金属纳米颗粒。在一些实施方式中,载体可包括遍及其中布置纳米颗粒的第二熔融玻璃(secondary molten glass)。该第二熔融玻璃可布置在新生纤维的表面,并任选地,新涂覆的纤维经过另外的下料模。在一些实施方式中,第二熔融玻璃可以为与玻璃芯相同的组成。在其他实施方式中,第二熔融玻璃可以是不同的。在一些实施方式中,第二熔融玻璃的软化温度可以比初始玻璃芯低,以保持过渡金属纳米颗粒的完整性。在一些这样的实施方式中,温度差异可以足够小,以保持纤维本身的结构完整性。
在一些实施方式中,可以通过夹带类型机构经载气施加纳米颗粒。示例性载气可包括惰性气体,如氮气、氩气、氦气或类似气体。可以原位制备纳米颗粒并在低于大气压的惰性气体环境下通过蒸发和/或浓缩类型方法在下料模150的出口位置处输送。各种气溶胶处理技术可用于制备纳米颗粒,包括但不限于,燃烧火焰、等离子体、激光烧蚀、化学气相冷凝、喷射热分解、电喷射和等离子体喷射。
在仍进一步实施方式中,纳米颗粒可作为冷却水***的一部分输送到玻璃纤维。当以该方式施加时,纳米颗粒简单地悬浮在冷却水溶液中。不必改变现有纤维制造设备。在这种实施方式中,纳米颗粒可受益于立即冷却条件,以减少和/或防止纳米颗粒附聚。而且,快速冷却玻璃能够通过机械结合有效地锁定纳米颗粒,其中纤维和纳米颗粒之间高度的共形接触。
在一些实施方式中,负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维在同时施加纳米颗粒和冷却水之后,可立即通过上浆位置。上浆剂的进一步固化根据纳米颗粒的精确性质,可在纳米颗粒和玻璃之间,以及纳米颗粒和上浆材料之间提供另外的化学结合。例如,当采用过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒时,氧化物的氧原子通过和二氧化硅的表面羟基反应和将其除去,可与玻璃表面提供桥;这种反应导致形成桥连过渡金属-氧-硅结合基序。这些结合可在纳米颗粒沉积阶段和/或任何施加上浆剂的任何固化期间形成。而且,过渡金属氧化物还可和上浆剂本身反应以提供和上浆材料的化学连接。
无论施加纳米颗粒的精确方式如何,纳米颗粒能够以连续共形接触嵌入玻璃纤维中且不需要另外的玻璃纤维粗糙化/蚀刻。结果是负载纳米颗粒的催化剂具有改良的结构完整性。
在一些实施方式中,本发明提供了如此方法,其包括提供熔融玻璃和多个纳米颗粒的混合物并从该混合物形成玻璃纤维,如在图2B中所指示。多个纳米颗粒包括过渡金属。在一些实施方式中,这种过渡金属是适合随后CNT生长的那些过渡金属。在拉制纤维之后,多个纳米颗粒嵌入整个玻璃纤维,如在图2B的横截面图中所指示的。在一些实施方式中,就在穿过下料模150之前,纳米颗粒在前炉中分散在熔融的玻璃中(也见图1)。
本领域技术人员将意识到过渡金属和熔融玻璃类型的选择应当被选择以避免过渡金属纳米颗粒的附聚。过渡金属纳米颗粒展示与纳米颗粒直径相关的熔点降低,并在一些情况下,观察到的熔点可比体相金属低几百度。对于所选择过渡金属纳米颗粒大小的熔点,可通过使用已知强度的透射电子显微镜(TEM)电子束或通过纳米量热法评估熔点,容易地实验测定,对于窄范围的纳米颗粒大小分布,后一种技术通常更成功。对于CNT合成,过渡金属纳米颗粒的大小涉及从催化剂生长的CNT的直径和性质。例如,用于多壁CNT合成的典型催化剂的范围可在约5nm到约50nm之间。
在一些实施方式中,当在熔融的玻璃中采用过渡金属纳米颗粒时,用绝热涂层涂覆颗粒可是有利的。这种涂层可包括,例如多孔氧化铝或其他多孔陶瓷材料,如碳化硅。这些涂层可赋予过渡金属纳米颗粒充分的短期保护以防止附聚。可根据本领域已知的方法制造涂覆的金属纳米颗粒,所述方法包括例如原子层沉积(ALD)。在一些实施方式中,过渡金属纳米颗粒周围的保护涂层可以与熔融玻璃结构结合。例如,氧化铝网的氧原子可以结合入硅-氧原子的熔融玻璃网。为防止纳米颗粒附聚,使用多孔材料还可使下游获得用于CNT合成的试剂。
再次参看图1,本发明的方法可在炉的任何部分中引入多个纳米颗粒,所述炉的任何部分包括初始熔化部分120、精炼炉130或前炉140。当颗粒具有足够的保护涂层时,它可在工艺中较早地引入。在一些实施方式中,当没有提供绝缘涂层时,就在穿过下料模150的孔之前,将纳米颗粒引入熔融玻璃可是有益的。在仍进一步实施方式中,下料模150装备有孔,所述孔具有输送设备以当玻璃纤维经过该孔时,向它施加纳米颗粒。
在一些实施方式中,当在前炉中作为熔融玻璃混合物一部分施加时,过渡金属纳米颗粒载荷量的范围可在按线性重量(linear weight)计约0.001%到约3%之间。纳米颗粒可包括选自下列的过渡金属:d-块和f-块过渡金属的零价金属、金属氧化物、金属氮化物和类似物。当在熔融的玻璃中混合时,过渡金属纳米颗粒的范围可在约0.1nm到约80nm之间。
本发明采用的在下料模150位置处引入纳米颗粒并在前炉140中与熔融玻璃混合的方法可在用于玻璃纤维形成的温度下操作,所述温度的范围在约200℃到约1700℃之间,包括200℃和1700℃。
不论在下料模150之前或之后引入纳米颗粒,本发明所采用的纳米颗粒可以是任何过渡金属、或合金、如上述任何d-块或f-块过渡金属——包括锕系元素和镧系元素——的纳米颗粒。另外,纳米颗粒可包括元素形式或盐形式和其混合物形式的d-块和/或f-块金属的合金和非合金混合物。这种盐形式包括,但不限于氧化物、碳化物和氮化物。非限制的示例性过渡金属纳米颗粒包括Ni、Fe、Co、Mo、Cu、Pt、Au和Ag及其盐和其混合物。可容易地从许多供应商,包括例如FerrotecCorporation(Bedford,NH)商业上获得许多过渡金属催化剂。在一些实施方式中,催化剂可以是氧化铁和/或镍的氧化物、钴的氧化物或铜的氧化物。氧化物形式可从前面提到的本文上述的化学结合基序中受益。
在一些实施方式中,如上所述,当在熔融玻璃中采用时,纳米颗粒载荷量的范围在按重量计约0.01%到约5%之间。当在离开下料模150的孔处施加到表面时,纳米颗粒载荷量的范围按线性重量计可在约0.001%到约3%之间。
在一些实施方式中,纳米颗粒大小的范围可在约0.1nm到约80nm之间,包括例如0.1、1、2、3、4、5、6、7、8、9、10、15、20、25、30、35、40、45、50、55、60、65、70、75、和80nm,包括之间的任何数值和其分数。在一些实施方式中,纳米颗粒大小的范围在约5nm到约30nm之间,包括5、6、7、8、9、10、11、12、13、14、15、16、17、18、19、20、21、22、23、24、25、26、27、28、29、和30nm或其任何分数。颗粒大小的选择或大小分布可被选择以将特定类型的CNT合成作为目标。例如,在一些实施方式中,在5nm和30nm之间的纳米颗粒可用于制备多壁碳纳米管(MWNT)。小于1nm的纳米颗粒可用于制备单壁碳纳米管(SWNT)。
纳米颗粒可作为用于施加到新生玻璃纤维材料的溶液施加。常见溶剂使纳米颗粒均匀地到处分散。这种溶剂可包括但不限于,水、丙酮、己烷、异丙醇、甲苯、乙醇、甲醇、四氢呋喃(THF)、环己烷或者任何其他溶剂,其具有控制的极性以产生纳米颗粒的适当的分散体。纳米颗粒的浓度可在纳米颗粒与溶剂之比为大约1∶1至1∶10000的范围。在一些实施方式中,溶剂是水,并采用催化剂溶液作为如上所述冷却溶液。
在一些实施方式中,在施加纳米颗粒至玻璃纤维材料之后,玻璃纤维材料可进一步加热接近软化温度。这可帮助将纳米颗粒嵌入在玻璃纤维材料的表面中,并可促进玻璃纤维表面和纳米颗粒之间进一步的化学结合。在一些实施方式中,在玻璃纤维材料上布置催化剂之后,可在约500℃和1000℃之间的温度下加热玻璃纤维材料。在一些这样的实施方式中,采用的温度可以是使用的玻璃类型的函数。可在引入碳原料之前或几乎同时进行加热接近软化温度以促进CNT生长。
在一些实施方式中,本发明的方法提供了负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维,其直径范围在约4微米到约50微米之间,在其他实施方式中在约4微米到约35微米之间。通过在下料模150上的孔大小,可部分地确定该直径。通过卷筒160的速度,还可部分地控制该直径。本领域技术人员将意识到制造任何直径的玻璃纤维的能力,所述纤维包括,例如4、5、6、7、8、9、10、11、12、13、14、15、16、17、18、19、20、21、22、23、24、25、26、27、28、29、30、31、32、33、34、35微米的纤维等等,上至约50微米的纤维,包括这些数值之间的任何分数直径。
在一些实施方式中,本发明的方法可包括施加上浆溶液到负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维。上浆剂是在纤维上的涂层,其可控制许多纤维的特性,如在加工期间将如何处理纤维和纤维如何表现作为复合材料的一部分。已经开发了纤维上浆剂,以当在复合材料中使用时提供更好的界面强度,例如,以改进滑润性防止纤维磨损,并提供抗静电性。上浆剂可以是本领域已经的任何常规上浆剂。上浆剂的功能包括保护纤维免受环境条件如氧化降解、湿气、光和类似条件的影响。大部分上浆剂包括的或作为补充上浆剂包括的是预聚物和双官能有机化合物,其有助于与给定树脂基体的交叉聚合(cross-polymerization)。可结合使用任何数量的上浆剂,并取决于纤维的最终用途和纤维的物理性质和/或化学性质。示例性纤维上浆剂包括,例如硅烷基上浆剂、用硅烷链改性的聚合物、连同设计与特定树脂基体产生交叉聚合的预聚物。尤其地,对于应用至玻璃纤维,上浆剂可包括,例如烷氧基硅烷,和在其他硅基骨架结构例如硅氧烷上的其他反应官能团。通过玻璃纤维和将与该纤维接合(interface)的基体的化学性质,指导上浆剂的精确选择。其他考虑因素包括纤维和/或复合材料的特定应用和纤维和/或复合材料将暴露于的环境条件,如热、湿气和类似条件。
本发明的上浆溶液可包括进一步的成分,如表面活性剂,包括非离子表面活性剂、两性离子表面活性剂、离子表面活性剂。离子表面活性剂包括阳离子表面活性剂、阴离子表面活性剂。上浆配方还包括溶剂,如水和/或常规有机基溶剂。一般采用这些溶剂以提供用于将上浆剂的元素均匀涂覆在纤维上的手段。通常在固化步骤中除去溶剂。在一些实施方式中,通过加热上浆的玻璃纤维到约100℃到约125℃之间的温度可固化上浆溶液。
在一些实施方式中,尽管本文公开的实施方式具体涉及玻璃纤维,但是本发明还提供了如此方法,其包括在纤维制造期间在任何纤维中结合多个过渡金属纳米颗粒,以提供负载纳米颗粒的纤维。多个过渡金属纳米颗粒在负载纳米颗粒的纤维的表面处嵌入。这种负载纳米颗粒的纤维可进一步经历适合碳纳米管生长的条件,如下面所描述的。
在一些实施方式中,纤维是碳,且可在石墨化期间结合纳米颗粒。在一些实施方式中,纤维是陶瓷,且可在陶瓷纤维形成期间添加纳米颗粒。在一些实施方式中,纤维是有机聚合物,如芳族聚酰胺聚合物。在仍进一步实施方式中,纤维是金属。
在一些实施方式中,负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维(或任何其他纤维类型)可进一步经历用于合成碳纳米管的条件。这可在施加和固化上浆剂之前或之后进行。合成碳纳米管的步骤可以包括用于形成碳纳米管的许多技术,包括在共同未决的美国专利申请号US 2004/0245088中公开的那些,该专利通过引用并入本文。通过本领域已知的技术,包括但不限于微腔、热或者等离子体-增强的CVD技术、激光烧蚀、弧光放电和高压一氧化碳(HiPCO),在本发明的纤维上生长的CNT可被完成。具体地,在CVD期间,可直接使用CNT形成催化剂布置在其上的上浆的玻璃纤维材料。在一些实施方式中,在CNT合成期间,任何先前施加的上浆剂可被除去。在其他实施方式中,不除去其他上浆剂,但不妨碍CNT合成和并入玻璃纤维材料,这是因为碳源通过上浆剂的扩散。在一些实施方式中,乙炔气体被电离以产生CNT合成用的冷碳等离子体的喷射。该等离子体被引导向负载催化剂的玻璃纤维材料。因此,在一些实施方式中,在玻璃纤维材料上合成CNT包括(a)形成碳等离子体;和(b)引导碳等离子体至玻璃纤维材料上布置的催化剂上。生长的CNT的直径由CNT形成催化剂的尺寸控制,如上所述。在一些实施方式中,上浆的纤维基底被加热至大约550至大约800℃之间以促进CNT合成。为引发CNT的生长,两种气体被释放入反应器:工艺气体诸如氩气、氦气或者氮气,和含碳气体诸如乙炔、乙烯、乙醇或者甲烷。在CNT形成催化剂的位置处生长CNT。
在一些实施方式中,CVD生长是等离子体-增强的。通过在生长过程期间提供电场,等离子体可产生。在这些条件下生长的CNT可以沿电场的方向。因此,通过调整反应器的几何形状,垂直排列的碳纳米管可绕圆柱形纤维放射状地生长。在一些实施方式中,对绕纤维的放射状生长,等离子体不是必需的。对具有明显的侧面的玻璃纤维材料,诸如带材、垫、织物、板片以及类似物,催化剂可被布置在一个或者两个侧面上,并且相应地,CNT也可被生长在一个或者两个侧面上。
连续的碳纳米管合成的一种构造包括直接在玻璃纤维材料上合成和生长碳纳米管的专门的矩形反应器。该反应器可被设计用于生产负载碳纳米管的纤维的连续流线方法中。在一些实施方式中,通过化学气相沉积(“CVD”)方法在大气压下和在大约550℃至大约800℃的范围中的高温在多区域反应器中生长CNT。合成发生在大气压下的事实是有利于反应器结合入纤维上CNT合成的连续处理生产线的一个因素。与使用这种区域反应器的流线连续处理相符的另一优势是CNT生长在几秒钟内发生,与在本领域典型的其他方法和设备构造中的几分钟(或者更长)不同。
根据各种实施方式的CNT合成反应器包括下列特征:
矩形构造的合成反应器:本领域已知的典型CNT合成反应器的横截面是圆形的。对此有许多原因,包括例如历史的原因(在实验室中经常使用圆柱形反应器)和方便(在圆柱形反应器中容易模拟流体动力学,加热器***容易接受圆形的管(石英,等等)),并且易于制造。背离圆柱形的惯例,本发明提供具有矩形横截面的CNT合成反应器。背离的原因如下:1.因为可由反应器处理的许多玻璃纤维材料是相对平的,诸如平的带材或者形式上类似薄片,因此圆形的横截面是反应器体积的低效利用。这种低效导致圆柱形CNT合成反应器的若干缺点,包括例如,a)保持充分的***净化;增加的反应器体积需要增加的气体流速以保持相同水平的气体净化。这导致对于开放的环境中的CNT大量生产是低效率的***;b)增加的碳原料气体流量;按照上述的a),惰性气体流量的相对增加需要增加碳原料气体流量。考虑12K玻璃纤维粗纱的体积比具有矩形横截面的合成反应器的总体积小2000倍。在相同的生长圆柱形反应器(即,其宽度容纳与矩形横截面反应器相同的平面玻璃纤维材料的圆柱形反应器)中,玻璃纤维材料的体积比室的体积小17,500倍。尽管气相沉积过程诸如CVD典型地仅由压力和温度控制,但体积对沉积的效率具有显著影响。用矩形反应器,仍有过量的体积。该过量的体积促进不需要的反应;然而圆柱形反应器具有大约8倍的体积。由于这种更多的发生竞争反应的机会,在圆柱形反应器室中,期望的反应更慢地有效地发生。对于连续方法的进行,CNT生长的这种减慢是有问题的。矩形反应器构造的一个好处是可以通过使用矩形室的小高度减小反应器体积,使得该体积比更好以及反应更加有效。在本发明的一些实施方式中,矩形合成反应器的总体积比经过合成反应器的玻璃纤维材料的总体积大大约3000倍以下。在一些进一步的实施方式中,矩形合成反应器的总体积比经过合成反应器的玻璃纤维材料的总体积大大约4000倍以下。在一些仍进一步的实施方式中,矩形合成反应器的总体积比经过合成反应器的玻璃纤维材料的总体积大大约10,000倍以下。另外,明显的是,当使用圆柱形反应器时,与具有矩形横截面的反应器相比,需要更多的碳原料气体以提供相同的流量百分数。应当理解,在一些其他实施方式中,合成反应器具有由这样的多边形形式描述的横截面,该多边形形式不是矩形但与其比较类似,并且相对于具有圆形横截面的反应器其提供反应器体积的相似减小;c)有问题的温度分布;当使用相对小直径的反应器时,从室的中心至其壁的温度梯度是最小的。但对于增大的尺寸,诸如可被用于商业规模生产,温度梯度增加。这种温度梯度导致整个玻璃纤维材料基底上产品质量变化(即,产品质量作为径向位置的函数变化)。当使用具有矩形横截面的反应器时,基本避免了该问题。具体地,当使用平的基底时,反应器高度可随基底的尺寸按比例增大而保持不变。反应器的顶部和底部之间的温度梯度基本上可被忽略,并且因此,避免了发生的热问题和产品质量变化。2.气体引入:因为在本领域中通常使用管式炉,典型的CNT合成反应器在一端引入气体并且吸引其经过反应器至另一端。在本文公开的一些实施方式中,气体可被对称地引入反应器的中心或者目标生长区域之内,这或者通过侧面或者通过反应器的顶部和底部板。这提高了CNT生长总体速度,因为在***的最热部分,引入的原料气体连续地补充,该部分是CNT生长最活跃的位置。对由矩形CNT反应器表现出的增加的生长速度,该恒定的气体补充是重要的方面。
分区。提供相对冷的净化区域的室依附在矩形合成反应器的两端。申请人已确定,如果热的气体与外部环境(即,反应器的外部)混合,玻璃纤维材料的降解会增加。冷的净化区域提供内部***和外部环境之间的缓冲。本领域已知的典型的CNT合成反应器构造典型地需要基底被小心地(并且缓慢地)冷却。在本矩形CNT生长反应器的出口处的冷的净化区域在短的时间段内达到冷却,如连续的流线处理所要求的。
非接触、热壁的、金属的反应器。在一些实施方式中,使用由金属尤其是不锈钢制成的热壁反应器。这可能似乎有悖常理,因为金属,尤其是不锈钢,更容易发生碳沉积(即,形成烟灰和副产物)。因此,多数CNT反应器构造使用石英反应器,因为有较少的碳沉积,石英容易清洁,并且石英有利于样品观察。但是,申请人已观察到,不锈钢上增加的烟灰和碳沉积导致更加一致的、更快的、更有效的和更稳定的CNT生长。不被理论束缚,已指出,就常压操作而言,发生在反应器中的CVD方法是扩散有限的。即,催化剂是“过量供给的”,由于其相对更高的分压(比起假设在部分真空下操作反应器),在反应器***中太多的碳可利用。因此,在开放的***中一尤其在清洁的***中-太多的碳可粘附至催化剂颗粒,减弱其合成CNT的能力。在一些实施方式中,当反应器是“脏的”时,即在金属反应器壁上具有沉积的烟灰,有意地运转矩形反应器。一旦碳沉积成为反应器的壁上的单层,碳容易在其本身上沉积。因为由于该机制一些可用的碳被“收回”,以基团形式剩余的碳原料以不使催化剂中毒的速度与催化剂反应。现有***“干净地”运转,如果打开其用于连续的处理,其会以减小的生长速度产生CNT的低得多的产率。
尽管进行如上所述的“脏的”CNT合成一般是有益的,但设备的某些部分,诸如气体集合管和入口,当烟灰形成阻塞时可消极地影响CNT生长过程。为了解决该问题,可用抑制烟灰的涂料诸如二氧化硅、氧化铝或者MgO保护CNT生长反应室的这些区域。实践中,设备的这些部分可被浸涂在这些抑制烟灰的涂料中。这些涂料可用于金属诸如因为INVAR具有相似的CTE(热膨胀系数),这在更高的温度保证涂层的适当粘附力,防止烟灰显著地聚集在关键区域。
结合的催化剂还原和CNT合成。在本文公开的CNT合成反应器中,催化剂还原和CNT生长都发生在反应器内。这是重要的,因为如果作为单独的操作进行,还原步骤不能足够及时完成用于连续的方法。在本领域已知的典型的方法中,还原步骤典型地需要1-12小时完成。根据本发明,两种操作都发生在反应器中,这至少部分地是由于碳原料气体引入反应器的中心而不是末端的事实,碳原料气体引入末端在使用圆柱形反应器的技术中是典型的。当纤维进入加热的区域时发生还原过程;在此时,气体已有时间与壁反应,并且在与催化剂反应并且引起氧化还原(通过氢基团相互作用)之前冷却。正是在该过渡区域发生还原。在***中最热的等温区域,发生CNT生长,最大生长速度出现在接近反应器中心附近的气体入口。
在一些实施方式中,本发明提供了玻璃纤维,其包括遍及整个纤维布置的过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒,包括暴露于纤维表面处的纳米颗粒。在一些实施方式中,本发明提供了玻璃纤维,其包括只在纤维表面处嵌入的过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒。过渡金属氧化物包括,例如氧化铁、氧化铜、氧化钴和氧化镍。任何这些玻璃纤维可进一步包括上浆剂,和任选地,进一步包括树脂。作为CNT合成准备好的玻璃纤维,这些玻璃纤维可缠绕在卷轴或心轴上并包装待售。
在一些实施方式中,上浆的负载纳米颗粒的纤维可穿过切碎器枪(chopper gun)。这可在固化上浆剂之前或之后完成。切短的玻璃纤维可用于形成短切原丝毡和类似物。在形成这种垫之后,该垫可暴露于CNT合成的条件。在可选实施方式中,可在全长玻璃纤维材料上合成CNT并接着该并入CNT的纤维材料穿过切碎器枪。具有从纳米颗粒催化剂生长的CNT的切短玻璃纤维可以和各种树脂结合以提供材料,如玻璃增强的塑料(GRP)和其他复合材料构建物。示例性复合材料包括,但不限于玻璃增强的PEEK、环氧树脂、尼龙、聚碳酸酯、混凝土、石膏、陶瓷和类似物。
任何本发明的具有到处布置的纳米颗粒或只在表面处布置的纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维材料可任选地在复合材料中“原样(as is)”使用。而且,任何玻璃纤维材料可被进一步处理以合成CNT,然后将它们放置在复合材料结构中。复合材料结构包括基体材料和玻璃纤维材料。基体材料可选自环氧树脂、聚酯、乙烯基酯、聚醚酰亚胺、聚醚酮酮(polyetherketoneketone)、聚邻苯二酰胺、聚醚酮、聚醚醚酮、聚酰亚胺、酚醛树脂、和双马来酰亚胺。
在本发明的复合材料中有用的基体材料可以包括已知基体材料的任何一种(见Mel M.Schwartz,Composite Materials Handbook(2d ed.1992))。更一般地,基体材料可以包括树脂(聚合物)——热固性的和热塑性的、金属、陶瓷和水泥。
可用作基体材料的热固性树脂包括邻苯二甲酸/马来酸(maelic)型聚酯、乙烯基酯、环氧树脂、酚醛树脂、氰酸酯、双马来酰亚胺和内亚甲基四氢化邻苯二甲酸(nadic)封端的聚酰亚胺(例如,PMR-15)。热塑性树脂包括聚砜、聚酰胺、聚碳酸酯、聚苯醚、聚硫醚、聚醚醚酮、聚醚砜、聚酰胺-酰亚胺、聚醚酰亚胺、聚酰亚胺、多芳基化合物和液晶聚酯。
可用作基体材料的金属包括铝的合金,诸如铝6061、2024和713铝黄铜(aluminium braze)。可用作基体材料的陶瓷包括玻璃陶瓷诸如硅铝酸锂、氧化物诸如氧化铝和富铝红柱石、氮化物诸如氮化硅和碳化物诸如碳化硅。可用作基体材料的水泥包括金属碳化物(carbide basecermets)(碳化钨、碳化铬和碳化钛)、耐火水泥(钨-氧化钍和钡-碳酸盐-镍)、铬-氧化铝、镍-氧化镁、铁-碳化锆。上述基体材料的任何一种可被单独使用或者结合使用。
当使用并入CNT的玻璃纤维时,CNT提供了上浆剂样性质,但是比常规上浆材料更稳固并且CNT可改进复合材料中的纤维-至-基体界面,且更一般地,改进纤维-至-纤维界面。的确,并入CNT的玻璃纤维材料它们本身是复合材料,在这种意义上,并入CNT的玻璃纤维材料性质将是玻璃纤维材料的那些性质以及并入的CNT的那些性质的组合。所以,本发明的实施方式提供了如此手段,其赋予玻璃纤维材料期望的性质,否则所述玻璃纤维材料缺乏该性质或具有不足以测定的这些性质。玻璃纤维材料可被调整或设计以符合具体应用的要求。由于疏水的CNT结构,起到上浆剂作用的CNT可保护玻璃纤维材料免于吸收湿气。而且,疏水的基体材料与疏水的CNT充分地相互作用,提供了改进的纤维和基体相互作用。
应当理解,不会实质上影响本发明各种实施方式行为的修改也包括在本文提供发明的限定之内。所以,下述实施例意欲阐明但不限制本发明。
实施例I
该实施例说明了通过挤出后冷却液,铁纳米颗粒结合在新生s-玻璃纤维的表面上。
使用用于制造玻璃纤维的炉设备100将纳米颗粒结合在新生纤维的表面上。原材料110进料到包括三部分室的炉设备100,所述三部分室包括主熔化炉部分120、精炼部分130和前炉140。通过下述步骤制造玻璃纤维:混合原材料110,在该三阶段炉中熔化它们,挤出熔融玻璃通过在前炉140底部的下料模150,使用水基纳米颗粒溶液冷却丝(在150和160之间),并接着施加化学上浆剂以防止磨损和对纤维的其他损坏(在150和160之间)。接着聚集并入纳米颗粒的丝并在卷筒160上缠绕成捆。
在炉设备100中,熔化炉部分120接收为玻璃成分混合物的原材料110。在S-玻璃的情况下,原材料由64-66%的二氧化硅、0-0.3%的氧化钙、24-26%的氧化铝、0-0.3%的氧化钠和氧化钾、9-11%的氧化镁和0-0.3%的氧化铁组成。
在熔化炉部分120中,在该第一部分中在1600℃-1700℃之间的温度下发生熔化,且均匀性增加,包括除去泡沫。熔融的玻璃接着流入精炼炉130,在那里它的温度降低到1400℃-1500℃,并分离充分混合的玻璃用于玻璃纤维形成。最后,熔融的玻璃输送到前炉140,在所述前炉的下面安置了一系列用于将熔融的玻璃挤出成纤维的下料模150。
玻璃纤维形成包括挤出和拉细的结合。随着熔融的玻璃穿过下料模150离开前炉140,发生挤出,所述下料模150由耐腐蚀的铂/铑合金制成,具有5,000非常细的孔。
电加热下料模150,并精确控制它的温度(约1150℃)以保持恒定的玻璃粘度。接着,当特定粘度的熔融玻璃的挤出流被机械地拉制成丝时,拉细发生。在这种情况下,当以100ft/min拉制时,所得丝直径为约10μm。
当丝离开下料模150并在卷筒160之前,采用水喷嘴冷却它们。在该实施例中,作为冷却水***的一部分输送纳米颗粒到玻璃纤维。直径在4-20nm之间的阳离子氧化铁纳米颗粒(Ferrotec)以1份催化剂溶液对200份去离子水的浓度悬浮在冷却水溶液中。通过冷却喷射,纳米颗粒溶液暴露于纤维的表面。纤维温度从超过800℃降到低于200℃。
所得玻璃结构通过机械结合有效地锁定纳米颗粒,其中纤维和纳米颗粒之间高度的共形接触。所得并入纳米颗粒的玻璃按线性重量计包含大约0.1-0.5%的纳米颗粒。
负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维在卷筒160之前和在同时施加纳米颗粒和冷却水之后立即通过上浆位置。上浆剂由在水中的0.3%体积上浆剂的硅烷基涂层组成,并用于减少基于处理的损坏,改善产品包装,并增强后来的纤维对基体的可湿性和粘合。
卷筒160用于提供熔融流的拉细。因为卷筒160以比熔融玻璃离开下料模150更快的圆周速度旋转,所以施加张力,将玻璃拉制成细丝(当以100ft/min拉制时,为10μm)。
上浆剂的进一步固化用于在上浆剂和玻璃表面之间提供另外的化学结合。在100-120℃之间的温度下进行并入纳米颗粒的玻璃产品的后固化并进行持续24小时,以确保从该产品中除去所有过量的水。该固化步骤促进玻璃中二氧化硅的羟基和上浆剂中硅烷基之间的相互作用,以通过在上浆剂和玻璃表面之间提供结合基序改善粘合。
所得并入纳米颗粒的S-玻璃纤维以连续共形接触在玻璃纤维中提供嵌入的纳米颗粒,并不需要另外的玻璃纤维表面粗糙化/蚀刻。结果是具有改进结构完整性的负载纳米颗粒的催化剂,其可用于使用在线CNT生长工艺在玻璃纤维表面上原位生长碳纳米管。

Claims (79)
1.一种方法,其包括提供熔融的玻璃纤维芯,和当所述熔融的玻璃纤维芯在它的软化温度或高于它的软化温度时,布置包括过渡金属氧化物的多个纳米颗粒在所述熔融的玻璃纤维芯上,从而形成负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维,其中所述多个纳米颗粒在所述玻璃纤维芯的表面处嵌入,使得所述过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒至少部分地在所述玻璃纤维的结构内,所述过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒以重量计占所述玻璃纤维的约0.001%至约3%并且在其上具有保护涂层,所述保护涂层包括多孔氧化铝或者多孔陶瓷。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,进一步包括施加上浆剂到所述负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维。
3.根据权利要求2所述的方法,进一步包括在施加所述上浆剂之后,使所述负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维穿过切碎器枪。
4.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述熔融的玻璃纤维芯是E玻璃或S玻璃。
5.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维的直径范围在约4微米到约50微米之间。
6.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维的直径范围在约4微米到约35微米之间。
7.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述过渡金属氧化物包括选自下列的氧化物:铁、铜、镍、钴和其混合物。
8.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述多个纳米颗粒大小的范围在约0.1nm到约80nm之间。
9.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述多个纳米颗粒大小的范围在约5nm到约30nm之间。
10.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述多个金属纳米颗粒在第二熔融的玻璃中布置在所述玻璃纤维芯上。
11.根据权利要求10所述的方法,其中所述第二熔融的玻璃和所述玻璃纤维芯相同。
12.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中通过将所述熔融的玻璃纤维芯经过水冷却***将所述多个纳米颗粒布置在所述玻璃纤维芯上,所述水冷却***包括具有分散在其中的所述多个纳米颗粒的水。
13.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中通过在载气中夹带将所述多个纳米颗粒布置在所述玻璃纤维芯上。
14.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中通过选自下列的工艺将所述多个纳米颗粒布置在所述玻璃纤维芯上:燃烧火焰、等离子体、激光烧蚀、化学气相冷凝、喷射热分解、电喷射和等离子体喷射。
15.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维的纳米颗粒载荷量的范围按线性重量计在约0.001%到约3%之间。
16.根据权利要求1所述的方法,进一步包括从所述负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维合成碳纳米管。
17.一种方法,包括提供包括熔融玻璃和多个纳米颗粒的混合物,所述多个纳米颗粒包括过渡金属;和
形成负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维,其中所述多个纳米颗粒遍及整个所述玻璃纤维嵌入,所述过渡金属纳米颗粒以重量计占所述玻璃纤维的约0.01%至约5%并且在其上具有保护涂层,所述保护涂层包括多孔氧化铝或者多孔陶瓷。
18.根据权利要求17所述的方法,进一步包括施加上浆剂到所述负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维。
19.根据权利要求18所述的方法,进一步包括在施加所述上浆剂之后,使所述负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维经过切碎器枪。
20.根据权利要求17所述的方法,其中所述熔融玻璃是E玻璃或S玻璃。
21.根据权利要求17所述的方法,其中所述多个纳米颗粒进一步包括围绕所述过渡金属的涂层,所述涂层选自氧化铝和碳化硅。
22.根据权利要求17所述的方法,其中纳米颗粒载荷量的范围按重量计在约0.01%到约5%之间。
23.根据权利要求17所述的方法,其中所述过渡金属选自:d-块过渡金属、f-块过渡金属的零价金属、金属氧化物、金属氮化物和其混合物。
24.根据权利要求17所述的方法,其中所述多个纳米颗粒大小的范围在约0.1nm到约80nm之间。
25.根据权利要求17所述的方法,其中所述负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维的直径范围在约4微米到约50微米之间。
26.根据权利要求17所述的方法,其中所述负载纳米颗粒的玻璃纤维的直径范围在约4微米到约35微米之间。
27.根据权利要求17所述的方法,进一步包括从所述玻璃纤维合成碳纳米管。
28.一种玻璃纤维,其包括遍及整个所述玻璃纤维布置的过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒,所述过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒以重量计占所述玻璃纤维的约0.01%至约5%并且在其上具有保护涂层,所述保护涂层包括多孔氧化铝或者多孔陶瓷。
29.根据权利要求28所述的玻璃纤维,其中所述过渡金属氧化物包括选自下列的氧化物:铁、铜、镍、钴和其混合物。
30.根据权利要求28所述的玻璃纤维,其中所述过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒大小的范围在约0.1nm到约80nm之间。
31.根据权利要求28所述的玻璃纤维,其中所述过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒大小的范围在约5nm到约30nm之间。
32.一种短切原丝毡,其包括根据权利要求28所述的玻璃纤维。
33.一种复合材料,其包括根据权利要求28所述的玻璃纤维。
34.一种玻璃纤维,其包括在所述玻璃纤维表面嵌入的过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒,使得所述过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒至少部分地在所述玻璃纤维的结构内,所述过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒以重量计占所述玻璃纤维的约0.001%至约3%并且在其上具有保护涂层,所述保护涂层包括多孔氧化铝或者多孔陶瓷。
35.根据权利要求34所述的玻璃纤维,其中所述过渡金属氧化物包括选自下列的氧化物:铁、铜、镍、钴和其混合物。
36.根据权利要求34所述的玻璃纤维,其中所述过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒大小的范围在约0.1nm到约80nm之间。
37.根据权利要求34所述的玻璃纤维,其中所述过渡金属氧化物纳米颗粒大小的范围在约5nm到约30nm之间。
38.一种短切原丝毡,其包括根据权利要求34所述的玻璃纤维。
39.一种复合材料,其包括根据权利要求34所述的玻璃纤维。
40.一种方法,其包括在纤维制造期间将多个过渡金属纳米颗粒结合在纤维中,以提供负载纳米颗粒的纤维,其中所述多个过渡金属纳米颗粒在所述负载纳米颗粒的纤维的表面处嵌入,使得所述过渡金属纳米颗粒至少部分地在所述纤维的结构内,所述过渡金属纳米颗粒以重量计占所述纤维的约0.001%至约3%并且在其上具有保护涂层,所述保护涂层包括多孔氧化铝或者多孔陶瓷。
41.根据权利要求40所述的方法,进一步包括使所述负载纳米颗粒的纤维经历适合碳纳米管生长的条件。
42.根据权利要求40所述的方法,其中所述纤维是碳。
43.根据权利要求40所述的方法,其中所述纤维是陶瓷。
44.根据权利要求40所述的方法,其中所述纤维是有机聚合物。
45.根据权利要求44所述的方法,其中所述有机聚合物是芳族聚酰胺聚合物。
46.根据权利要求40所述的方法,其中所述纤维是金属。
47.一种纤维,其包括嵌入在纤维中的多个过渡金属纳米颗粒,使得所述过渡金属纳米颗粒至少部分地在所述纤维的结构内,所述过渡金属纳米颗粒以重量计占所述纤维的约0.001%至约3%并且在其上具有保护涂层,所述保护涂层包括多孔氧化铝或者多孔陶瓷。

57.根据权利要求47所述的纤维,其中所述过渡金属纳米颗粒只在所述纤维的表面处嵌入。
