Abstract

322,027. Hacking, J. E. W., and McKnight, W. Sept. 17, 1928. Lift valves; seats.-A liner 7 screwed into a right angled or straight through body or casing 1 carries the valve spindle and seating and is removable as a unit.. The spindle 21, guided by a block 18 formed integrally with the liner or seated on a ledge 15 therein is, at its upper end, formed with a. flange and threaded extension on which a diaphragm 26 is clamped by a nut 27, the diaphragm being peripherally secured against a shoulder 24 by a cap 28 screwed into the liner end. The closure member 22 secured to the lower end of the spindle co-operates with a seating formed by the open end of the liner which projects beyond a shoulder 8 seated on a shoulder 5 in the casing, a copper asbestos washer 12 being interposed. The flanged upper end of the liner seats against a rubber or like washer 13 on the open top of the casing. The spindle may be normally raised by a spring 25. A push-stud 31 flanged at its inner end 32 and bearing against the end of the spindle may be actuated directly or through a lever.
