Lift valves; packing.-A valve is provided with one packing ring which serves for packing the valve spindle, the component parts of the casing, and also as the valve seat. The valve body a is threaded to receire a ring b, and a packing ring c of rubber or soft metal is placed in a groove between the two parts. The spindle d is hollow and forms the liquid outlet, and its flanged portion rotates between the ring b and packing ring c. The remaining annular zone of the ring c serves as the seating for the lift closure member g which is threaded to engage the screwed spindle and provided with lugs h to prevent rotation but permit reciprocation. Lateral openings i are provided in the spindle to allow the passage of liquid to the outlet. The valve is manipulated by means of lugs f.
