569,538. Pressure-regulating valves. BROWN, C., and AMAL, Ltd. Oct. 13, 1943, No. 16786. [Class 135] In a pressure regulating valve of the kind comprising a spring-loaded valve 19 acted upon by a member (e.g. diaphragm 28) loaded by a spring 37 and subject to the pressure of the fluid in the outlet 5, the valve, which contacts the diaphragm through the medium of a pin 39, comprises a positive seating closure on a floating stem 20 housed in a bore in an externally ribbed carrier member 15 which is pressed upwards by a spring 24 and slides in a chamber 13 on the inlet side of the valve. The chamber 13 is formed in a member 9 which constitutes the valve seat, is provided with a bracket 26 slidably supporting the pin 39, and is formed as a nut on its upper surface to facilitate screwing of the member in the valve casing. Apertures 14 allow the incoming fluid to enter the chamber 13, the lower end of which is closed by a screw cap 22. The valve closure comprises a ball secured in a cup on the end of the stem 20. The upper surface of the diaphragm is open to atmosphere through a vent 38.
