Abstract

265,802. Jones, A., and Tylors (Water &. Sanitary), Ltd. March 15, 1926. Lift valves.-A screw actuated lift valve has the working parts assembled as a complete unit in a cylindrical container adapted to be screwed into a cast iron casing having a porcelain enamel finish both inside and outside. The casing a is formed without any cavities in which water might remain and become stagnant and has a screwed recess b to receive a gun-metal seat c. The container g which is screwed into an aperture at the top of the casing so as to cause a flange h to bear on a washer i is cut away at the bottom to form two projections having flat sides engaging flat sides on an elongated nut r carrying the valve face s. The actuating spindle has a screwed part v engaging the nut and a collar w housed in a recess formed between a shoulder o in the container and a washer m held in place by the lower part l of a stufting box. The upper part of the spindle is squared to receive a handle x provided with a skirt arranged to cover the top of the container. The seat c may be formed integrally with the tail piece d and screwed into the casing. The projections may be formed on the nut and arranged to engage flats on the inner casing.
