Abstract
162,842. Rotherham, K., and Johnson, W. Feb. 20, 1920. Lift valves; seats. - A tap or stop-cock comprises a disc operated by a cam. A cylindrical body A is screwed on the inlet pipe B of smaller diameter, and their relative positions may be varied to vary the height of the valve seat B<2> which is formed on the end of the inlet pipe. A spindle G passes transversely through the body A and carries a cam F, which co-operates with the sliding plug G. The stem H<2> of the valve II rests in a cup G<2>, and the valve is provided with a disc H<3> of cork. A spring D<2> presses against a metal disc D<3> and leather packing disc D, and the spindle is drawn against a similar packing disc at the other end. The operating-lever E<2> works between a pair of stons.
