Class 44 [Also in Group XVII] In a collapsible box having four sides hinged together, opposite sides 11 being divided into inwardly foldable hinged parts 11a, 11b, a handle 17 on the exterior of each part 11a is connected to segments 18 on the inside which have cam tracks 18a. On the interior of each part 11b are brackets 21 having parts for co-operation with the cam tracks 18a so that after raising top side 1'2 to the erected position the brackets 21 can be engaged in the tracks 18a by moving the handles 17 so as to clamp the parts 11a and 11b in the same plane. Adjacent the upper end of each end part 13b is a pair of spaced brackets 22 having hooked noses at their inner ends and mounted at opposite ends under the top 12 is a pair of transverse shafts 23, each having a pair of radial arms 24; an each of these is pivotally mounted a spring-loaded catch piece 25 for engagement with the nose of one bracket 22 as the top 12 is raised to erect the box. A handle 26 on the shaft 23 adjacent a door 15 is connected by linkage 27-29 to the other shaft 23, so that movement of the handle 26 will impart equal and opposite angular movement to the two shafts 23. The shaft 23 nearer the door is connected through linkage 30, 31 to an intermediate transverse shaft 32, at each end of which is another arm 33 pivoted to the upper end of a vertically slidable bolt 34 which forms an abutment for the lever 19 to prevent movement of the associated lever 17 to be released position until the lever 26 has been moved to permit the catch pieces 25 to move outwards. Means are provided to prevent latching of the door 15 by lever 45 and catch elements 44, 46 unless the part 13b is properly clamped in position.
