Abstract

900,937. Staging for workmen. PANTEK, S., and PANTEK, J. June 17, 1960, No. 21444/60. Class 20 (2). A mobile staging for workmen comprises four upwardly-converging standards 12, 14, 16 and 18 connected together at the top and bottom by members 20, 30, respectively, and also by braces 38, a platform 40 vertically adjustable on the standards, a driving-rod 64 for one pair of wheels 88 operated by a crank-handle 74 and a steering gear for the other pair of wheels 104 operated by a handle 94. The platform 40 is supported in one of a number of holes in each standard by means of hooks 52 on the ends of rods rotatably mounted under the platform. A pivoted step 58 raised by a spring when not in use provides access to the platform. The driving-rod 64 drives the wheels through a universal joint and bevel gears and may be gripped to lock it, between two bearing-plates 66, Fig. 5, closed together by means of a wing bolt 72 in conjunction with a guide pin 70. The steering handle 94 is adapted to turn a rod 92, Fig. 8, about its axis and through a universal joint 94, a pin carrying a bell-crank 106 on which one wheel 104 is mounted and which is connected by a tie rod 110 to a similar bellcrank carrying the other wheel. The top members 20 of the side having the step 58 may by pivoted aside. A basket 112 is supported between the handles 74, 94. In a modification, Fig. 9 (not shown) one side of the platform 40 is supported on vertical members mounted inside the members 16, 18.
