Abstract

741,458. Folding tables. DESMO, Ltd. May 24, 1954 [Oct. 1, 1953 ; Dec. 16, 1953], Nos. 26906/53 and 35108/53. Class 52(3). A folding table has a top 1 supported by a metal frame 2 carrying, on corner brackets 3, U-shaped leg members 4 pivoted on pins 7, one side limb 8 of each member 4 having a transverse end edge 13 shaped to engage in the folded and unfolded positions, one of four metal bars 5 secured on edge to the inner faces of corner brackets 3 to prevent pivotting about the pin. When it is desired to move the legs from one position to the other the limb 8 is pressed inwards by means of a pin 16 to clear the bar 5 and swing to the new position where it moves back again to engage the bar 5 and be locked in position. As shown, the other limb of each member 5 has its extremity semi-circular and no locking takes place but both limbs may be arranged to lock and pins 16 may be omitted, the legs being pressed inward by the hand.
