Abstract

399,959. Spray carburetters. AMAL, Ltd. and BROWN, C., Holford Drive, Perry Barr, Birmingham. Aug. 6, 1932, No. 22109. [Class 7 (iii).] A suction - actuated piston 2 or the equivalent controls the admission of air into the main fuel jet system 13 of a carburetter when the depression in the induction pipe exceeds a predetermined amount, and at a predetermined greater depression air is admitted into the fuel passage for use during slow running. The depression in the induction pipe 5 above the throttle valve 6 is communicated to the underside of the piston 2 through a passage 7, to open a spring-pressed valve 9 which controls the admission of air from a port 12 to the main fuel jet. A sliding sleeve 16 is attached to the stem of the valve 9 and when the higher depression value is attained it depresses a sleeve valve 17 to permit air to pass from a port 20 through a passage 21 to the slow running fuel passage 14.
