Abstract

Spray carburettors; vaporizers, external. - A jacket c around the induction pipe b<1> or the carburettor b<2> or both, is supplied with exhaust gases through a pipe h from an exhaust manifold a<1> connected by a pipe a<2> with a silencer a<3>, a<4>. The gases are discharged from the jacket through a pipe g either to the atmosphere through an auxiliary silencer g<2>, g<3>, or to a point of the main exhaust system where the pressure is lower than that in the pipe g. A valve for controlling the flow through the jacket is situated at some point beyond that at which the pipe h enters the jacket. As shown, the valve is located at e, is of the spring-loaded, mushroom type, and is actuated through linkage f<1>, f<3>, f<4> from the carburettor throttle valve f in such a manner that as the throttle is opened the valve passage is reduced.
