Abstract

367,168. Spray carburetters. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R., 4, Militõrstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Feb. 12, 1931, No. 4386. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1930. Addition to 287,902, [Class 7 (iii), Internalcombustion engines, Carburetting-apparatus &c. for]. [Class 7 (iii).] The parent Specification describes a carburetter in which the float chamber air-space is connected to a main choke tube, an auxiliary air passage in parallel with said choke tube being controlled by an automatic throttle valve. According to the invention, the auxiliary throttle also controls the pressure in the float chamber. The float chamber air-space g is connected by a tube f to an intermediate choke tube d, and by a tube n to the auxiliary air passage i, the end o of the tube being adapted to be varied in area by a slot q in a disc p integral with the throttle k. The inlet of air to the tube and therefore the pressure in the float chamber are adapted to be increased as the throttle is opened. The nozzle h discharges into a small choke tube e which, together with the intermediate tube d, is in series with the main choke tube c. An air throttle is provided at b. In a modification, a tube opening into the auxiliary passage i delivers air to the spraying tube h. In a further modification, the inlet to this tube is also adapted to be controlled by a recess in a disc on the auxiliary throttle. As this throttle is opened, the inlet to this tube is closed, and that to the tube n opened.
