Abstract
1,076,751. Automatic torque control. TEXMA MASCHINEN G.m. b. H. [trading as GEBRUDER SUCKER). April 13, 1964 [April 11, 1963; Aug.30, 1963; Sept.19, 1963], No.15152/64. Heading G3R. [Also in Divisions D1, F2 and F4] A cylinder drive apparatus for fibrous web materials has each cylinder or a group of cylinders driven through series connected variable ratio gearings which are automatically adjustable in dependence on the web tension. The gearing 21 is driven at a speed proportional to the web rolls 11, 12 and the gearing 20 is driven at a speed proportional to the gearing 21 and similarly along the line. Torque indicators are provided as differential gears 23, 24, 25 in which an arm 29 on the intermediate gear strikes a flexible magnet with a Hall Voltage generator between its poles the output of which is compared to a predetermined standard on an electrometer. The drive is compensated when necessary by variable pulleys in gears 19, 20, 21 which vary diameter of the driving surface. In a modification Fig.7 (not shown) the drive is taken from a Sun wheel through planet wheels to the cylinder. If the torque varies the worm-wheel carrying shaft is moved axially. Torque is restored by a regulator through the chain wheel and the shaft moves back.
