Abstract

775,511. Winches. POHLIG AKT.-GES., J. March 15, 1955 [March 15, 1954], No. 7478/55. Class 78 (5). In a winch drum 1 of the kind having an endless band 4 which seats the rope 3, the displacing means for laterally shifting the endless band axially of the drum comprises pressure rollers 11 and opposed counter pressure rollers 14. As shown, rollers 11 and 14 are respectively mounted on rings 10 and 13, the rings being mounted loosely on drum 1 and being secured together to guides 9 by bolts 12 to form a unit. Another set of pressure rollers 31 is mounted on the said unit to displace the endless band 4 when the rotation of the drum is reversed. The band 4 is formed of elements resiliently abutting each other at 16, recesses 6 in the band engaging with ribs 7 of the drum 1 so as to rotate the band with the drum, the helical band being returned to its starting point by guide 8. The drive to the drum is via gear 27.
