Abstract

An inlet shaft 1 ends in a principal pinion 5 which meshes with a plurality of planetary pinions 6 whose shafts 7 are secured to the periphery of a plate 8 secured to the output shaft 2, coaxial with the input shaft but independent thereof, these planetary pinions 6 being surrounded by a transmission crown 9 via which they indirectly receive movement also of the input shaft 1 with the assistance of an auxiliary wheel 10 secured to an auxiliary shaft 11, parallel to the input shaft 1 and connected therewith by means of a variator unit embodied as a pair of variable-diameter pulleys 12-13. In this way, and on the basis of a specific magnitude of movement in the input shaft 1, or, what amounts to the same thing, in the principal pinion 5, as the speed on the auxiliary shaft 11 falls from a maximum value, the speed of the output shaft 2 also falls until it reaches a zero speed point, after which the direction of rotation thereof is reversed and an increase occurs in this new direction, all this being in linear form.
