Description
The present invention relates to a raw material gas supply nozzle, a carbon nanofiber production apparatus, and a carbon nanofiber production method, and more specifically, in an air stream formed in a cylindrical shape in a reaction region in a reaction tube during the production of carbon nanofibers. In particular, the present invention relates to a raw material gas supply nozzle capable of feeding a raw material in a uniform and stable gaseous state, a carbon nanofiber manufacturing apparatus including the raw material gas supply nozzle, and a method of manufacturing the carbon nanofiber.
Conventionally, vapor-grown carbon fibers have been produced by a production method called a fluidized vapor phase method. This fluidized gas phase method is a method in which a raw material gas obtained by mixing a gas of a carbon compound such as methane, ethane or benzene and a gas of an organic transition metal compound such as ferrocene is injected into a reaction tube. In this method, a metal catalyst is produced in the gas phase to continuously produce carbon fibers. As a method for producing this carbon nanofiber, the methods described in JP-B-62-49363, JP-B-4-37166 and the like are evaluated as methods capable of continuous production and high in productivity, and have become mainstream.
When supplying the raw material gas into the reaction tube, the raw material gas is supplied through a raw material gas supply nozzle provided at one end of the reaction tube. As this raw material gas supply nozzle, a nozzle formed in a single pipe (hereinafter, sometimes simply referred to as a single pipe nozzle. The inner diameter of this single pipe nozzle is 1/4 to 1/1 / of the inner diameter of the reaction tube. 6 is disclosed (see Patent Document 1).
However, according to the technique described in Patent Document 1, the source gas is supplied from the source gas supply nozzle into the reaction tube along the central axis of the reaction tube. Since the central axis of this reaction tube is away from the inner wall of the reaction tube, the radiant heat from the inner wall of the reaction tube is not transmitted to the raw material gas supplied into the reaction tube, and the radiant heat from the inner wall of the reaction tube cannot be used effectively. . Therefore, the raw material gas supplied into the reaction tube remains unreacted and is discharged to the outside of the reaction tube, resulting in a problem of poor production efficiency. In addition, there is a variation in the concentration of the supplied raw material gas at the upper and lower sides inside the reaction tube, and there is also a problem that the production efficiency is poor in this respect.
By the way, in recent years, carbon nanofibers having a diameter much smaller than that of carbon fibers have attracted attention, and development of their production methods has been urgently required. In order to manufacture carbon nanotubes by using carbon fiber manufacturing equipment, in a virtual reaction region existing in the reaction tube, length growth is performed with the catalyst metal generated from the catalyst source existing in the raw material gas as the nucleus. It is necessary to determine the reaction conditions that suppress the growth of the thickness. However, the above problem also exists in the reaction tube built in the carbon fiber manufacturing apparatus having a diameter much larger than the diameter of the carbon nanotube, so that the carbon nanofiber is manufactured using the carbon fiber manufacturing apparatus. It's not so easy to do.
The present invention provides a raw material gas supply nozzle capable of efficiently producing carbon nanofibers in a reaction tube while utilizing a carbon fiber production apparatus having such conventional problems, and a carbon nanometer having the raw material gas supply nozzle.
The 4th means for solving the above-mentioned subject in this invention is:
( 4 ) In the heated reaction tube, it becomes a cylindrical air flow from the jet outlet in the source gas supply nozzle according to any one of claims 1 to 4 provided at one end of the reaction tube. ADVANTAGE OF THE INVENTION According to this invention, the raw material gas supply nozzle which can improve the reaction efficiency in a reaction tube, a carbon nanofiber manufacturing apparatus, and the manufacturing method of carbon nanofiber can be provided. That is, by providing an injection port formed so that the raw material gas can be ejected so as to be a cylindrically formed air flow, the temperature variation in the radial cross section of the reaction tube is reduced. As a result, it is possible to obtain a carbon nanofiber having a uniform quality without an undecomposed product of the raw material gas. .

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 shows a carbon nanofiber manufacturing apparatus 1 according to the present invention. The carbon nanofiber manufacturing apparatus 1 reacts a raw material gas, and has a
Here, the raw material that is the source of the raw material gas has a catalytic metal source and a carbon source. The catalyst metal source is not particularly limited as long as it is a substance or compound that generates a metal that becomes a catalyst by thermal decomposition. Examples of the catalyst metal source that can be used include organic transition metal compounds described in JP-A-60-54998, page 3, upper left column, line 9 to upper right column, lowermost line, paragraph of JP-A-9-324325. And organic transition metal compounds described in paragraph [0049] of JP-A-9-78360, and the like.
Examples of preferable catalytic metal sources include organometallic compounds such as ferrocene, and metal carbonyls such as iron carbonyl. A catalyst metal source can also be used individually by 1 type, and can also use multiple types together.
The catalytic metal source can also be used with a cocatalyst. As such a co-catalyst, any catalyst can be used as long as it can interact with the catalyst metal generated from the catalyst metal source to promote the formation of carbon nanofibers, and paragraph number [0051] of JP-A-9-78360. And sulfur-containing heterocyclic compounds and sulfur compounds described in paragraph [0061] of JP-A-9-324325 can be used without limitation. Suitable promoters include sulfur compounds, particularly thiophene and hydrogen sulfide.
The carbon source is not particularly limited as long as it is a compound that can generate carbon by pyrolysis to generate carbon nanofibers. Examples of usable carbon sources include carbon compounds described in JP-B-60-54998, page 2, lower left column, line 4 to same page, lower right column, line 10; JP-A-9-324325, paragraph number Examples thereof include organic compounds described in [0060] and organic compounds described in paragraph [0050] of JP-A-9-78360. Preferable examples of various carbon sources include aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene and toluene, aliphatic hydrocarbons such as hexane, propane, ethane and methane, and alicyclic hydrocarbons such as cyclohexane. In addition, the carbon source can also use the single type individually, and can also use multiple types together.
The ratios of the carbon source gas and the catalyst metal source gas (referred to as source gas) to the total mixed gas (referred to as all source gas and carrier gas) are preferably 0 to 40% and 0.01 to 40, respectively. %, More preferably 0.5 to 10% and 0.05 to 10%, respectively. Here, the concentration of the carbon source gas may be zero because, for example, when the organometallic compound that is a catalyst metal source contains sufficient carbon in its molecule, the carbon source gas is not necessarily required. Meaning. Therefore, in the present invention, the carbon source and the catalytic metal source may be the same compound.
In addition, when the carbon nanofibers are grown to a thickness, a large amount of pyrolytic carbon is contained. Therefore, fine and highly graphitized vapor-grown carbon fibers with no precipitation of pyrolytic carbon or this vapor-grown carbon In order to obtain carbon nanofibers having a diameter smaller than that of the fibers, it is preferable to reduce the concentration of the carbon source and increase the concentration of the catalytic metal source. In the present invention, the carbon nanofiber includes a carbon nanotube.
On the other hand, the
The source
In the present embodiment, the source

The
Here, the diameter of the

The first carrier
Next, an example of a procedure for producing vapor-grown carbon fiber using the carbon nanofiber production apparatus 1 described above and an operation thereof will be described. First, a raw material containing, for example, 95% by mass of benzene, 2% by mass of ferrocene, and 3% by mass of thiophene as a blending component is stored in the
Next, the second carrier
At the same time, for example, hydrogen gas is supplied into the
Next, the
The source gas supplied to the source
The raw material gas that circulates in the
According to this embodiment as described above, the following effects are obtained.
(1) Since the source
(2) Since the source
(3) A
(4) Since an
(5) Between the outer wall of the
It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and modifications and improvements within the scope that can achieve the object of the present invention are included in the present invention. In the embodiment, the source
