Abstract

752,657. Rolling. MOELLER & NEUMANN GES. Jan. 18, 1954 [Feb. 3, 1953], No. 1498/54. Class 83 (4). In a rolling mill housing the rolls 30, 31, Fig. 1, together with the bearings and adjusting means are arranged in a casette 32 which can be swung into two positions so that the rolls are either horizontal or vertical. Alternative drive-shafts 13, 14 or 23, 24 are provided on the housing for vertical or horizontal rolls and are alternatively connected through couplings 4, 5 actuated by a change lever 7, shafts 17, 20 with a bevel gear connection providing the vertical drive. The casette 32 runs on rails 37 in and out of the housing and is turned over as required by a lifting mechanism (not shown). Inside the housing the casette 32 is lifted into position by screw jacks 39, 40 and further jacks 12 adjust the height of the drive-shafts 13, 14. The vertical drive may alternatively be below the housing and the frame lowered into connection with the drive by the screw jacks 39, 40.
