775,182. Bearing pedestals. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. May 3, 1955 [May 3, 1954], No. 12785/54. Class 12 (1). In a twin-motor rolling-mill drive comprising a shaft 11 driven by a lower roll driving motor 14 and a shaft 10 between an upper roll and its driving motor, the shaft 10 is supported in an upper bearing housing 17 mounted above a bearing housing 15 for shaft 11 on two separately-removable side pedestals 18. The bearing housing 17 has both horizontally and vertically disposed surfaces arranged to bear against similar surfaces formed on the side pedestals 18. A rail 21 is disposed on the underside of the housing 17 to carry lifting tackle for removing parts of the lower bearing housing 15. The cap of the lower bearing housing is split into three sections 15a, 15b, 15c to facilitate handling.
