Abstract

524,899. Rolling. DEMAG AKT.-GES. Feb. 10, 1939, No. 4409. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1938. [Class 83 (iv)] In a vertical rolling-mill, one of the rolls 3 is driven from below and the other from above, the drive for the left hand roll 3 being through, bevel gears 8, 9, gears 11, 15, 13 and wobbler 18 slidable in its sleeve 22, the right hand roll being similarly driven from top gearing in a removable housing 17. The roll stand 1, 2, 3 can be slid into the frame 5 resting on the foundation or edge of the pit and secured by wedges 6, Fig. 2 (not shown). The rolls can be adjusted vertically by a motor 32 and worm gears 30 operating screws 26. The top gearing and housing 17 can be uncoupled and removed bodily to allow removal of the rolls upwardly.
