Abstract

1,041,849. Straightening. SIEMAG SIEGENER MASCHINENBAU. Aug. 23, 1963 [Sept. 13, 1962], No. 33539/63. Heading B3E. A leveller for plate and bar material comprises two groups of levelling rolls disposed in an intermediate frame 3 within a machine frame 1, the rolls of one group being mounted in guide boxes associated with load-bearing means serving to displace the guide boxes and thus move the rolls of the one group towards the rolls of the second group. The leveller comprises a machine frame 1 having a T-shaped transverse opening 2 into which is fitted an intermediate frame 3 laterally slidable along surfaces 6 in which are mounted driven upper rolls 4 and lower non-driven rolls 5. The roll shafts 8, 13, Fig. 2 (not shown), are rotatably journalled in anti-friction bearings in non- rotatable sleeves 11, 16 mounted directly in the frame 3 and in guide boxes 17 which are vertically slidable in rectangular apertures 19 therein respectively. The sleeves are axially movable by individually mounted inching motor and reduction means 12, 18. Each roll 5 is vertically adjustable through a pair of non- rotating screwed thrust spindles 21 and nuts 22 mounted in the base 20 and driven in synchronism by worm, shaft and motor means 23, 25, 24 which engage each box 17. The upper roll shafts 8 are driven by pinions 27 attached thereto, intermediate pinions 28 mounted in the frame 3, spur gears 29 each of which engages simultaneously with two pinions 28 of adjacent rolls 4 and gear-box and motor 30, 31. To change the roll set the complete frame 3 is laterally removed from the frame 1 and replaced by a second frame 3 comprising a new roll set up. Wedge-type adjusting members may be used in place of the screw and nut means.
