Abstract
357,503. Motor vehicle driving arrangements. AVERMAETE, C. C. VAN, 102, Rue Amelot, Paris. March 21, 1930, No. 9169. Convention date, March 21, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Classes 79 (ii) and 79 (iii).] The motor 1 of an automobile and the driving parts such as the clutch 3, the change-speed gear 4, the differential, and the driving-shaft 6 are arranged one above the other in an axis inclined at an angle, preferably 90‹, to the general longitudinal axis of the chassis. As shown, a four-wheel drive is effected by a longitudinal shaft 7 driven by bevel gears 8, 9, and driving the rear axle by bevel wheels 10, 11, but driving assemblies may be mounted independently over either or both pairs of wheels. The cylinders 2 are preferably arranged so as to be air-cooled.
