[Class 79 (ii)] Endless-track and other vehicles are provided with a change-speed gear for each side of the vehicle for steering purposes. In the construction shown, a main change-speed gear 1 drives shafts 3, 4 through a differential gear 2, and each shaft 3, 4 drives the corresponding road wheel or endless-track 6 through epicyclic twospeed gears 10 controlled by brakes 11, 12. The differential gear is locked during steering. The change-speed gears may comprise reversing gearing. Separate brakes 13 are provided for steering sharply. The brakes 11, 12, 13 may be controlled mechanically or hydraulically.
