Abstract

304,178. Whatmough, W. H. Oct. 14. 1927. Impact pulverizers.-Apparatus for dispersing amorphous aggregates in liquids comprises a liquid-tight casing containing a rapidly rotating beater having on its surface a large number of fine points or projections. The beater is preferably composed of superimposed layers of wire gauze cut in segments 14 and fastened together between side plates by bolts 15. The outer strands of wire are removed so that the ends of the radial wires project. Alternatively the beater may consist of superimposed toothed discs of thin sheet metal. Adjustable baffles 17 may be used to direct the liquid into the path of the beater, but the latter rotates mainly clear of stationary surfaces. Specifications 276,400 and 293,510 are referred to.
