Abstract

214,446. Veitch, W. W. April 10, 1923. Stationary batch-mixers with rotary stirrers.- A mixing apparatus for plastic or creamy substances comprises a beater formed of a perforated plate on the faces of which are curved, inperiorate, parallel, and inclined plates forming in effect a worm; scrapers for the sides and bottom of the container may be provided and are loosely mounted on arms rotated in the opposite direction to the beater. The perforated beater b, having the inclined plates d thereon, is mounted on a spindle e rotated by bevel gearing from the shaft k. The scrapers r comprise angle plates, and are pivotally mounted on arms p the lower ends of which are taken in a bearing s on the lower end of the beater, while the upper ends are carried by an internally toothed member o, driven from the spindle e by gearing l, m. The plates d may be arranged to form a true helix.
