Abstract

243,052. Rissik, Fraser, & Co., Ltd., and Fraser, A. Aug. 16, 1924. Mills. - A machine for mixing, emulsifying, and the like has relatively-rotating members so constructed that particles of the treated material moving outwards under centrifugal force strike the faces of the members alternately. The shafts a<1>, b<1> carry the plates a, b which are shown of a conical form and are enclosed in the casing c. The adjacent faces of the plates a, b have interfitting concentric corrugations. The shaft a<1> is hollow; the material passes through it and then passes between the plates where it impinges repeatedly upon the corrugations and is collected from t'he outlet d in the casing. The member a has passages g communicating with a duct h in the shaft a<1> through which substances may be supplied to the mixture while it is passing between the plates a, b. Cutting teeth, grinders or the like may be provided on each plate near the centre. Windows or ports may be provided in the casing and in one or both of the plates a, b so that the material can be subjected to the influence of light or of selected light-rays.
