Abstract

293,510. Whatmough, W. H. April 29, 1927. Impact pulverizers. - Apparatus for the fine dispersion of solids suspended in liquids comprises a liquid - tight casing comprising a high speed rotor carrying beater arms of reticulated structure, composed for example of wire gauze or of metal shavings, wire, or turnings. Baffles &c. may be provided to direct the liquid against or through the reticulated elements. Fig. 3 shows a rotor of Known type adapted by inserting blocks of wire gauze 11 (shown in detail in Fig. 4) between the existing solid beater projections. Fig. 7 shows a rotor composed of superimposed rings 20 of wire gauze having projections 14 and clamped between side plates 19. Cowls 21 collect the liquid and direct it into the interior of the rotor whence it passes out through the wire mesh. Specification 276,400 is referred to.
