Abstract

La présente invention concerne des procédés de préparation de structures de carbone cylindriques, notamment de nanotubes de carbone à paroi unique, présentant une chiralité souhaitée. Les procédés comprennent les étapes de fourniture d'un composant catalytique sur un substrat et d'un composant de carbone, et de mise en contact du composant catalytique et du composant de carbone pour produire une structure de carbone cylindrique. On ne fournit ensuite plus de composant de carbone et on détermine la chiralité de la structure de carbone cylindrique. Le composant catalytique est ensuite nettoyé et le processus est répété jusqu'à ce que la structure de carbone cylindrique remplisse une caractéristique souhaitée, comme la longueur. La chiralité du nanotube de carbone à paroi unique produit après le nettoyage du composant catalytique est la même que celle du nanotube produit initialement.
