Abstract
A laser deposition apparatus (100) is provided which uses a laser beam (103) to manufacture and/or repair a work piece (109) by depositing a material on a work piece (109) and controlling a temperature of the work piece (109) using a laser beam (115) prior to, during and/or after deposition. The temperature controlling laser beam (115) has a larger cross-sectional area than a laser beam (103) used for deposition at the surface (117) of the work piece (109).
