Description
かつ、機関始動時のクランキング初期にかけても前記付勢手段で前記可変手段を直接付勢して吸気弁の閉時期を吸気行程下死点前の進角側に制御したことを特徴としている。
すると、シリンダヘッドSHの上部の軸受に回転自在に支持された中空状の駆動軸6と、該駆動軸6に圧入等により固設された偏心回転カムである駆動カム7と、駆動軸6の外周面に揺動自在に支持されて、各吸気弁4,4の上端部に配設されたバルブリフター8、8の上面に摺接して各吸気弁4,4を開作動させる2つの揺動カム9,9と、駆動カム7と揺動カム9,9との間に連係されて、駆動カム7の回転力を揺動カム9,9の揺動力として伝達する伝達機構とを備えている。
このため、各吸気弁4,4の閉時期P1が、進角側に制御された状態になる。さらに、前述のコイルスプリング21のばね力によって確実に最進角(最小作動角)側に付勢されて安定した状態を維持する。つまり、可変機構11は、バルブスプリングのばね力により、小リフト小作動角側にある程度安定する傾向を示すが、いわゆる渋りなどがあった場合でも、前記コイルスプリング21によって、より安定的に小リフト小作動角側になる。なお、前記渋りとは、駆動軸6や制御軸17に固定された駆動カム7や制御カム18が回転する際に引っ掛かって比較的大きな摺動摩擦抵抗が発生する場合などをいう。
次に、機関始動時、つまりイグニッションスイッチをオン操作して、スターティングモータを回転駆動させてクランクシャフト02をクランキング回転させると、このクランキング初期では、前記吸気弁4,4の閉時期がいまだ下死点前の上死点寄りに維持されている。
前記付勢手段を、前記第1可変機構を介して吸気弁の閉時期を吸気上死点側に付勢する第1付勢部材と、前記第2可変機構を介して吸気弁の閉時期を吸気上死点側に付勢する第2付勢部材とによって構成し、
機関始動時のクランキング初期に、前記各可変機構によって吸気弁の閉時期を吸気行程下死点前の上死点寄りに制御するようにした。
クランキングの回転が上昇した時点で、吸気弁の閉時期を遅角側に変化させる際に、前記第1可変機構と第2可変機構のいずれかに故障が発生していた場合は、故障していない他方の可変機構によって吸気弁の閉時期を遅角側に制御することを特徴としている。

Claims (2)
- 機関運転状態に応じて吸気弁のリフト量と作動角を維持しつつ開閉時期のみを進角あるいは遅角側へ可変制御する可変手段と、
機関停止時に、前記可変手段を介して吸気弁の閉時期を進角側に付勢する付勢する付勢手段と、
を備え、
機関停止時に、前記付勢手段が、前記可変手段を直接付勢して吸気弁の閉時期を吸気行程下死点前の進角側に制御し、
かつ、機関始動時のクランキング初期にかけても前記付勢手段で前記可変手段を直接付勢して吸気弁の閉時期を吸気行程下死点前の進角側に制御したことを特徴とする内燃機関の可変動弁装置。 - クランキング初期を経たクランキング後期に、前記可変手段によって吸気弁の閉時期を吸気行程下死点側に遅角するように制御したことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の内燃機関の可変動弁装置。
