Abstract

645,432. Suction end-catchers for textile spinning machines. BECHTLER, H. C. Jan. 28, 1948, No. 2622. Convention date, Feb. 5, 1947. [Classes 120(ii) and 120(iii)] Suction nozzles provided on spinning machines beneath the lower front drawing rollers for collecting broken ends are so mounted as to be movable from a predetermined position near to the rollers to one more remote and to be positively located in either position. The nozzles also remove dust and fluff accumulated on the rollers. Nozzles 8, 25 are carried by tubes 9, 26 connected to a collector pipe 10 by flexible couplings 11. Tube 9 is held in normally operative position by a bent pin 17 in association with spring 15 on an extension 14 of a collar 13 on the tube. The pin 17 may be released from the spring by an operative when an end breaks, so that the tube 9 is lowered until the extension 17 rests on a cross-piece 16, whereupon piecing of the end is facilitated. Tube 26 is held in operative position by a pin 35 and spring 33 supported by a slotted extension 30 mounted on a cross-bar 29 and is located in its lower position by the bottom edge 31 of the slot. The nozzle mouths may be of hard material, such as steel or glass. Nozzles may be grouped together for combined movement.
