[Class 80 (ii)] A friction or hydraulic coupling K connects a loose steppedplanet carrier 2 with the driven shaft 6. A sun S1 drives, and a sun S2 is secured to the driven shaft, which may also carry a flywheel. The carrier 2 is restrained from reverse rotation by a releasable pawl or roller ratchet detent G.
