Abstract
382,225. Reversing-gearing. SOC. ANON. DES ENGRENAGES CITRÍEN, 31, Quai de Grenelle, Paris. April 23, 1932, No. 11747. Convention date, June 23, 1931. [Class 80 (ii).] In reversing-gearing comprising two sliding clutch cones 7, 12 adapted to engage alternatively for direct or reverse drive with two other cones 8, 13, driven in opposite directions by a driving shaft 1 through bevel gear 15, 9, 14, the cone 7 is mounted slidably on a driven shaft 2, the cone 12 is mounted slidably and free to rotate on a fixed shaft 10, and the two are connected by a flexible coupling 16. This arrangement obviates the necessity for a bearing in the position 17, which would have to be aligned with bearings 4, 5 of a reducing- gear 3 which the shaft 2 drives. The bearing 19 of the shaft 1 and the end member 17 of the shaft 10 can be adjustably secured to bosses 20, 18 respectively on the gear casing.
