Abstract

462,365. Change - speed gears. DEVLIN, S. R. Sept. 13, 1935, No. 25432. [Class 80 (ii)] A four-speed change-speed gear comprises loose gears 24, 25 and 26, 27 on auxiliary shafts 13 and 14 respectively and adapted to be selectively clutched thereto by clutches 15, 16 and 17, 18. The gears are driven by, and are in constant mesh with, fixed gears 19, 21, 20, 22 on a driving shaft 11, and fixed gears 28, 29 on the auxiliary shafts 13, 14 engage with a gear 23 on a driven shaft 12. Four speeds are obtained by selectively engaging the clutches 15, 16, 17 and 18.
