Semi-automatic screw-in machine. The present invention relates to a semi-automatic screwing machine, the frame of which has a head provided with a vertical bore in which a movable sleeve slides in the axial direction against an elastic return means, comprising in in addition to a tool-holder shaft journaling in the chon sleeve and able to move axially with respect to the latter, and. a rotary drive member journalled on the sleeve and intended to be temporarily connected to the tool-holder shaft, characterized in.
that the tool-holder shaft carries at its upper end a plate, while the drive member is integral with a. second coaxial plate being able to come into contact with the first during the relative displacement of the sleeve and the tool-holder shaft, the two plates tending to move away from each other under the influence of a spring housed in the second plate, said res comes out pressing on a ball housed in a central depression of the first plate.
One embodiment of the invention is shown by way of example in the appended drawing in which: FIG. 1 is an elevational view of the machine.
Fig. 2 is a front view.
Figs. 3 and 4 are detail views, in profile and from the front, showing the position of the movable elements at the start of the screwing operation. Figs. 5 and 6 are views corresponding to those of fi-. 3 and 4, but showing a more advanced stage of the wise screw operation, and figs. 7, 8 and. 9 show on a larger scale, from the front, in profile and from behind, the support jaws. and associated bodies.
The machine shown comprises a frame 7 having a head 2 in which a sleeve 3 can slide axially, the rotation of which is prevented by a screw 4 sliding in a slide 5 formed in the head 2.
A shaft 6 is journalled in the sleeve 3 which receives at its lower end the tool 7, such as the screwdriver shown, and is capable of undergoing a displacement in the axial direction of a determined amplitude.
its upper end, the shaft 6 carries a plate 8, the collar 9 of which forms a stop so as to limit the movement of the center of the shaft 6 relative to the sleeve 3 by abutting against the end of the latter.
A drive pulley 10 which rotates on the sleeve 3 by means of ball bearings 11, is controlled by a belt 12, itself driven by a suitable energy source. The pulley 10 is integral with a flange 13, the lower surface of which is opposite the upper surface of the plate 8, these two faces pou z ant come into contact with each other by a relative axial movement between the shaft 6 and the sleeve 3. A spring 14 is housed in an axial bore 15 of the flange 13.
This spring is supported by a file at its ends against a united stop 14a integral with the flange 13 and, by the other, against a piston 16 integral with a guide rod 17, guided in a central hazard of the stop 14a. The piston 16 presses on a ball 18 housed in a depression located in the center of the plate 8. It emerges from the above that the spring 14 tends to move the plate 8 away from the flange 13.
The downward movement of the movable sleeve 3 is. limited by its stop against the. head 19 of a threaded rod 20 screwed into the head 2 and thus allowing the stroke to be adjusted.
The screws to be installed are brought by an automatic distributor 21 of a construction known per se, distributing the screws at the desired time individually to the feed slides 22.
The slides 22 introduce the screw supplied by the distributor 21 between two jaws 23 and 24. These jaws are mounted at the lower end of the jaw-holder levers 25 and 26 respectively (fig.
5), which are articulated, at their upper end, by means of pins 27 and 28 respectively, on 11n slide 29 capable of sliding parallel to the axis of the tool-holder shaft 6, in the head 2 of the machine. The jaw carriers are further urged towards each other by a spring, not shown.
The slide 29, which is guided by guides 30 (FIG. 9) provided in the head 2, carries a bolt 32 sliding in an elongated recess 32a of a part 32b. The bolt 31, integral with the head, immobilizes the part 32b relative to the latter, which limits the upward movement of the slider 29 which is returned to its upper position by springs 33 attached to the bolt 32, .on the one hand, and to fixed bolts 33a integral with the head 2, on the other hand.
The pivoting levers 25 and 26 respectively carry at an intermediate point between the articulation axes 27 and 28 and, the jaws 23 and 24, rollers 34 and 35, intended to cooperate with a finger 36, which is mounted on the movable sleeve 3, so as to be introduced between the rollers 34 and 35, during a downward movement of the sleeve 3 relative to the slide 29, to separate the rollers 34 and 35 and, consequently, the jaws 23 and 24, thanks to to the pivoting movement of levers 25 and 26.
The axial movement of the sleeve 3 is controlled (FIG. 1) by a toothed sector 37 cooperating with a corresponding rack 37a provided on the sleeve. The toothed sector 37 is integral with a lever 39 which is mounted to oscillate about an axis 38. The pivoting movement of the lever 39 is controlled by means of connecting rods 40, 41, 42, 43 articulated to each other. , by an arm 44 integral with the connecting rod 43 and carrying a pedal, not shown. The connecting rod 43 can pivot about an axis 45 and is removed, against the action of the pedal, by a return spring 46.
The connecting rod 41 can pivot about an axis 47 and has an appendage 48 on which is articulated a connecting rod 49 which, by means of a connecting rod 50 carrying a pawl 51, actuates a ratchet wheel 52 controlling the distributor 21.
The machine frame still has an arm. 53, the front end of which receives the tail 54 of a plate 55 or any other suitable device intended to support the parts 57 to be assembled by screwing. The height of the tray 55 can. be adjusted using the clamping screw 56, locking the shank 54 in the desired position.
The above machine works as follows: At the start of the operation, the movable sleeve 3 and the tool-holder shaft 6 are in their upper position under the action of the return spring 46. On the other hand, the plate 8 is offset from the flange 13 by the action of the spring 14. Consequently, the shaft 6 remains at rest despite the rotation of the drive pulley 10.
The slider 29 is returned to its upper position, determined by the bolt 31 (fig. 9), by the springs 33, so that the jaws; 3, 24 are located near the end of the slides 22 , and that a screw brought by them fits correctly between the jaws.
When the pedal (not shown) is pressed, the play of the connecting rods 40 to 43 causes the rotation of the lever 39 around the axis 38, so as to cause the descent of the sleeve 3 thanks to the action of the sector toothed 37 on the rack 37a. The tool-holder shaft 6 participates in this downward movement thanks to its weight and to the action of the spring 14 acting on the plate 8.
When the screwdriver 7 abuts, following the downward movement of the sleeve 3 and of the tool-holder shaft 6, against the screw 58 sup carried by the jaws 23 and 24, it drives during the. continuation of the downward movement, the slide 29 against the return springs 33 thereof. At the same time, the reaction of the force necessary to drive the slide 29 compresses the res out 14, so as to apply the plate 8 against the underside of the flange 13 of the pulley 10. Consequently, the shaft 6 is coupled. , by friction, to the pulley 10 and is driven in rotation by the latter.
The tool-holder shaft 6 therefore drives the screw in rotation and, by continuing to exert pressure on the sleeve 3, the friction is maintained between the plate 8 and the disc 13. During this time, the finger 36 comes in con tact with the rollers 34 and 35 carried by the jaw-carrying levers 25, 26 and causes the jaws to open. The movement of penetration of the screw into the part to be fixed continues under the action of the descent of the tool holder.
When the sleeve 3 comes into contact with the head 19 of the screw 20, a slip occurs between the plate 8 and the disc 13, which causes the screwdriver to stop.
The position of the head 19 of the screw 20 is, of course, initially adjusted as a function of the driving depth of the screw.
When the pedal is released, the spring 46 returns the sleeve 3 and the tool-holder shaft 6 to the position shown in FIG. 1, while slide 29 is recalled by res spells 33.
By these aforementioned movements, the finger. 36 has withdrawn from between the rollers 34 and 35, so that the levers 25, 26 have resumed their position shown in FIG. 1 under the influence of their return spring, so as to bring the jaws 23, 24 together which are thus ready to receive a new screw which is brought to them by the slides 22 and the distributor 21, the operation of which is commanded. by the rotation of the axis 38 of the toothed sec tor 37 and the cooperation of the pawl 51 with. the ratchet wheel 52. The machine is then ready for a new operation.
