Abstract

化学発光活性を有する蛍光蛋白質(bFP)は、カルシウム結合型発光蛋白質のアポ蛋白質、セレンテラミドまたはその類縁化合物、およびカルシウムイオンまたはカルシウムイオンと置換可能な2価もしくは3価のイオンより構成された複合体であり、複合体中のアポ蛋白質とセレンテラミドの分子数の比が1:1であり、アポ蛋白質と2価もしくは3価のイオンの分子数の比が1:1~4である。これは、セレンテラジンの発光を触媒し、かつ蛍光発光能を有するので、マーカーとして利用される。この発光活性を有する蛍光蛋白質(bFP)から、カルシウムイオン等を除去すると新規の蛍光蛋白質(gFP)となる。これをセレンテラジンと混合するとカルシウム結合型発光蛋白質となり、カルシウムにより瞬間的に発光するので、マーカーとして利用できる。
