- a lip-shaped second sealing part is molded onto one leg of the holding part and is intended to seal the holding part against the body.
- the invention has for its object to improve the sealing and sound insulation effect of the sealing profile.
- the flange is particularly part of the B-pillars of a coupe with frameless side windows.
- the resistance to deformation of this sealing profile is comparatively low during the closing of the closing element. This is due to the fact that the second cavity is not always present, but only during the
- the holding part is provided with an embedded reinforcement made of metal or other materials of comparatively high strength.
- the sealing profile can consist entirely of soft rubber with a hardness of 50 to 60 Shore A.
- the features of claim 2 reduce the resistance to deformation of the first sealing part when the closing element is closed.
- the predetermined kink can e.g. be designed as a reduction in the thickness of the wall.
- the features of claim 4 also serve to reduce the deformation resistance when the closing element is closed.
- the tube profile can have an annular cross-sectional area when the closure element is open.
- the hose profile can also consist of foam rubber, while the rest of the sealing profile - with the exception of a possible reinforcement in the holding part - can be made of soft rubber with a hardness of 50 to 60 Shore A. In this case, the foam rubber can have a hardness of about 30 Shore A.
- the hollow profile can be made of foam rubber with a hardness of about 30 Shore A and the rest of the sealing profile - with the exception of any reinforcement in the holding part - made of soft rubber with a hardness of 50 to 60 Shore A.
- the third cavity improves the Sealing and sound insulation effect.
- the strand according to claim 7 gives the hollow profile a certain basic stability.
- the strand can e.g. be designed with approximately twice to three times the wall thickness in comparison to the wall thickness of the hollow profile.
- the second sealing part can be manufactured comparatively easily and inexpensively.
- claim 10 help to stabilize the second sealing part in its optimal operating position even during the closing of the closing element and when the closing element is closed.
- the features of claim 13 lead to a particularly precise positioning of the sealing profile relative to the flange. So that leaves achieve an optimal installation position of the sealing profile on the motor vehicle.
- FIG. 2 shows the sealing profile according to FIG. 1 with the closing element closed

- a reinforcement 6 made of metal wire is embedded in the holding part 2.
- the holding part 2 has an inner channel 7. From each leg 4, 5, holding ribs 8 and 9 extend obliquely inward into the channel 7.
- an essentially dimensionally stable positioning rib 10 and 11 extends from each end of the leg 4 into the channel 7.
- the positioning ribs 10, 11 are shorter than the holding ribs 8 arranged between the positioning ribs 10, 11.
- the sealing profile 1 When the sealing profile 1 is installed, the apexes of the positioning ribs 10, 11 rest on a side surface 12 of a flange 13 of a B-pillar 14 of a coupe, which has a frameless, liftable and lowerable side window as the closing element 15.
- the side window 15 is shown in Fig. 1 in its raised, closed position.
- the sealing profile 1 in FIG. 1 assumes its relaxed position, which exists when the sealing profile 1 has not yet been installed.
- the sealing profile 1 is intended to seal part of an opening 16 in the motor vehicle.
- the flange 13 extends along this part in a substantially vertical direction.
- the retaining ribs 8, 9 in FIG. 1 are each deformed upward by the flange 13 and bear against the side face 12 and an opposite side face 17 of the flange 13 under elastic prestress. As mentioned, the positioning ribs 10, 11 take over the exact positioning of the sealing profile 1 relative to the flange 13.
- a tubular first sealing part 18 is formed on the leg 4 and partially on the base 3.
- the first sealing part 18 encloses a first cavity 19 and comes with a part 20 of its outer surface in sealing contact with the side window 15, such as this is shown separately in Fig. 2.
- the part 20 is, starting from the base 3 and the leg 4, curved in a crescent shape towards the B-pillar 14.
- a wall 21 of the first sealing part 18 facing away from the side window 15 is opposite a second sealing part 22 at a distance 23 when the side window 15 is open.
- the second sealing part 22 projects into a second cavity 24, which is also defined by the wall 21.
- the wall 21 has an essentially V-shaped cross section, with an apex 25 of the “V” pointing away from the second sealing part 22.
- the apex 25 forms a predetermined kink point of the wall 21, at which the thickness of the wall 21 can be reduced can.
- a longitudinal edge 26 of the wall 21 is formed on the holding part 2 approximately halfway up the leg 4. In the area of the longitudinal edge 26, the wall 21 has a reduction in thickness 27 as a predetermined bending point.
- the predetermined kink in the area of the apex 25 and the reduction in thickness 27 ensure that the first sealing part 18 deforms relatively easily into the operating position shown in FIG. 2 when the side window 15 is closed.
- the resistance to deformation of the sealing profile 1 when the side window 15 is closed is therefore comparatively very low. Nevertheless, the part 20 is in the operating position with sufficient sealing pressure on the side window 15.
- the sealing effect is further improved in that, in the operating position, the second sealing part 22 is in contact with the wall 21 and defines the then closed second cavity 24 (see FIG. 2).
- the second sealing part 22 has a strand 28 formed on the free end of the leg 4, a web 29 extending from the strand 28 at an angle, and a web 29 on the free longitudinal edge of the web 29 molded tube profile 30 with a third cavity 39.
- the tubular profile 30 comes into sealing contact with the wall 21.
- a free end 31 of the strand 28 lies sealingly against an end face 32 of the B-pillar 14.
- the tube profile 30 consists of foam rubber, while the rest of the sealing profile 1 - with the exception of the reinforcement 6 - consists of soft rubber.
- a cover lip 33 is also formed on the base 3 and, in the installed state of the sealing profile 1, serves to cover the optical cover with respect to the adjacent body connection.
- first cavity 19, the second cavity 24 and the third cavity 39 are arranged in a gap 34 between the flange 13 and the (closed) side window 15 parallel to the flange 13.
- FIG 2 shows the state of deformation of parts of the sealing profile 1 when the side window is closed.
- the cavities 19, 24 and 39 which follow one another in the gap 34 can be seen particularly well.
- the second cavity 24 is also closed in this operating state and provides strong support for the sealing and scarf insulation effect in the gap 34.
- the sealing profile 1 can be provided with a flocking or lubricating varnish to improve the sliding friction properties.
- the embodiment according to FIG. 3 differs from that according to FIGS. 1 and 2 in that the second sealing part 22 has a hollow profile 35 molded onto the free end of the leg 4 of the holding part 2.
- a sealing wall 36 of the hollow profile 35 comes into contact with the wall 21 of the first sealing part 18 when the side window 15 is closed.
- the hollow profile 35 has the strand 28 formed on the leg 4, the sealing wall 36 with its longitudinal edges 37 and 38 on the strand 28 is formed. In this way, the second sealing part 22 forms the permanently existing hollow profile 35 with the third cavity 39.
- the sealing wall 36 has a substantially V-shaped cross section. At least one side wall 40 and / or 41 of the “V” is arched toward the inside of the hollow profile 35 even when the side window 15 is open. This reduces the resistance to deformation of the hollow profile 35 when the side window 15 is closed.
- Fig. 4 shows parts of the sealing profile 1 in its deformed operating position after closing the side window 15. It can be clearly seen that in this case the three successive cavities 19, 24 and 39 in the gap 34 ensure a particularly intensive sealing effect and sound insulation.
- FIGS. 5 and 6 differs from the previous two areas.
- the second sealing part 22 has the strand 28 formed on the free end of the leg 4 and a sealing lip 42 which extends from the strand 28 at an angle.
- the sealing lip 42 comes into contact with the wall 21 and thereby forms the closed second cavity 24, which can be seen in FIG. 6
- Anchoring profile 43 formed.
- the anchoring profile 43 is tubular with a fourth cavity 44 and is intended to be fixed between the B-pillar 14 and a decorative rod 45 of the body. In this case, the B-pillar 14 and the decorative rod 45 form a holder 46 of the motor vehicle for the anchoring profile 43.
- FIG. 6 shows how the anchoring profile 43 is deformed and clamped in the holder 16. In this way, the strand 28 is well held in all operating states even at its free end 31. The force with which the sealing lip 42 bears against the wall 21 can thereby be increased.
- the embodiment according to FIGS. 5 and 6 can be produced without the anchoring profile 43, or the exemplary embodiments according to FIGS. 1 to 4 can additionally be equipped with such an anchoring profile.
