Description
本発明は粒子配合ポリエステル樹脂組成物の製造方法に関する。詳細にはポリエステル樹脂と粒子との混練において、粒子混練後の固有粘度保持率及び粒子分散性に優れた粒子配合ポリエステル樹脂組成物を製造する方法に関する。 The present invention relates to a method for producing a particle-containing polyester resin composition. In particular, the present invention relates to a method for producing a particle-containing polyester resin composition that is excellent in intrinsic viscosity retention and particle dispersibility after kneading a polyester resin with particles.
ポリエステル樹脂、例えばポリエチレンテレフタレート(PET)は、機械的強度、化学的安定性、ガスバリア性、保香性、衛生性等に優れる上に、比較的安価で軽量であるため、繊維、フィルム、シート、あるいは容器などの成形品として広く用いられている。 Polyester resins, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET), are widely used for molded products such as fibers, films, sheets, and containers because they have excellent mechanical strength, chemical stability, gas barrier properties, aroma retention, and hygiene, as well as being relatively inexpensive and lightweight.
In many cases, these molded products are required to have improved surface slipperiness in order to improve workability during production and product handling. To improve the surface slipperiness, a method of blending fine particles with a polyester resin is known, for example, a method of melting and kneading a polyester resin and fine particles using a twin-screw extruder.
However, when kneading using a twin-screw extruder, if the screw rotation speed is increased to improve the dispersibility of the particles, there is a problem that the intrinsic viscosity of the polyester resin decreases due to deterioration caused by shear heat, resulting in a decrease in the strength of the molded product.
However, although the screw configuration described in
特許文献2には、ニーディングディスクと軸が偏心したフラクショナルミキシングエレメントが隣接したスクリュー構成が示されている。しかし、このスクリュー構成では、ニーディングディスクの搬送能力が非常に低いため、軸が偏心したフラクショナルミキシングエレメントへ樹脂及び粒子や繊維等が安定供給されにくくなり、分散不良が発生する。 Patent Document 2 shows a screw configuration in which a kneading disc and a fractional mixing element with an eccentric shaft are adjacent to each other. However, in this screw configuration, the conveying capacity of the kneading disc is very low, so it becomes difficult to stably supply resin, particles, fibers, etc. to the fractional mixing element with an eccentric shaft, resulting in poor dispersion.
本発明の目的は、ポリエステル樹脂と粒子との混練において、粒子混練後の固有粘度保持率及び粒子分散性に優れた粒子配合ポリエステル樹脂組成物を製造する方法を提供することにある。 The object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a particle-containing polyester resin composition that has excellent intrinsic viscosity retention and particle dispersibility after kneading the polyester resin with particles.
The gist of the present invention is a method for producing a particle-containing polyester resin composition by kneading polyester resin and particles using a twin-screw extruder, characterized in that the twin-screw extruder is equipped with (1) a kneading disk in the portion from the base end to the center of the screw, (2) a fractional mixing element with an eccentric shaft in the portion from the center to the tip of the screw, and (3) a screw having a full flight between the kneading disk and the fractional mixing element.
本発明によれば、ポリエステル樹脂と粒子との混練において、粒子混練後の固有粘度保持率及び粒子分散性に優れた粒子配合ポリエステル樹脂組成物を得ることができる。 According to the present invention, by kneading polyester resin with particles, it is possible to obtain a particle-containing polyester resin composition that has excellent intrinsic viscosity retention and particle dispersibility after kneading with the particles.
以下、本発明を詳細に説明するが、以下に記載する構成要件の説明は、本発明の実施態様の一例(代表例)であり、本発明はこれらの内容に特定されるものではない。 The present invention will be described in detail below. However, the following description of the constituent elements is an example (representative example) of an embodiment of the present invention, and the present invention is not limited to these contents.
[Polyester resin]
The polyester resin in the present invention is preferably one whose main repeating unit is an ethylene terephthalate unit or an ethylene-2,6-naphthalate unit, and may be a copolymer in which other components are copolymerized, preferably in a range of 15 mol % or less, and further 10 mol % or less, based on the total repeating units of the polyester resin, within a range that does not impair the object of the present invention. Examples of the copolymerization components include aromatic dicarboxylic acids such as terephthalic acid (when the main repeating unit is an ethylene-2,6-naphthalate unit), 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid (when the main repeating unit is an ethylene terephthalate unit), 2,7-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, isophthalic acid, and phthalic acid, aliphatic dicarboxylic acids such as adipic acid, azelaic acid, sebacic acid, and decanedicarboxylic acid, alicyclic dicarboxylic acids such as cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid, and glycols such as trimethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, tetramethylene glycol, and cyclohexanedimethanol. These may be used alone or in combination of two or more.
[粒子]
上記のポリエステル樹脂に混練する粒子は、平均粒子径が0.1~2.0μm、特に0.2~0.5μmであるものが好ましい。粒子の平均粒子径が0.1μm以上であれば、得られる成形品の表面滑性の向上に有利である。また平均粒子径が2.0μm以下であれば、粗大粒子の頻度が少なく、ざらつき感、外観の低下を抑制できる。
[particle]
The particles to be kneaded into the polyester resin preferably have an average particle size of 0.1 to 2.0 μm, particularly 0.2 to 0.5 μm. If the average particle size of the particles is 0.1 μm or more, this is advantageous for improving the surface smoothness of the resulting molded product. If the average particle size is 2.0 μm or less, the frequency of coarse particles is low, and roughness and deterioration of the appearance can be suppressed.
ポリエステル樹脂に対する粒子の配合量は、好ましくは0.1~10重量%、より好ましくは1~7重量%、さらに好ましくは3~5重量%である。粒子の配合量が0.1重量%以上であれば、粒子を配合したことによる表面滑性の向上効果を有効に得ることができる。粒子の配合量が10重量%以下であれば、混練時の粒子同士の衝突による凝集を抑制して、本発明による分散性の向上効果を有効に得ることができる。 The amount of particles blended with respect to the polyester resin is preferably 0.1 to 10% by weight, more preferably 1 to 7% by weight, and even more preferably 3 to 5% by weight. If the amount of particles blended is 0.1% by weight or more, the effect of improving surface smoothness due to blending the particles can be effectively obtained. If the amount of particles blended is 10% by weight or less, aggregation due to collisions between particles during kneading can be suppressed, and the effect of improving dispersibility according to the present invention can be effectively obtained.
本発明で用いる粒子としては、有機粒子、無機粒子いずれであってもよい。有機粒子としては高融点又は不溶性の樹脂の微粉末が挙げられる。無機粒子としてはシリカ(酸化ケイ素)、酸化チタン、酸化アルミニウム、炭酸カルシウム、リン酸カルシウム、カオリン、タルクなどが挙げられる。これらは単独で使用しても二種以上を併用してもよい。 The particles used in the present invention may be either organic particles or inorganic particles. Examples of organic particles include fine powders of high melting point or insoluble resins. Examples of inorganic particles include silica (silicon oxide), titanium oxide, aluminum oxide, calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate, kaolin, talc, etc. These may be used alone or in combination of two or more kinds.
そのなかでも、硬度が高く、効果的に表面滑性を付与できるシリカ粒子が好ましく用いられる。シリカ粒子の屈折率は1.5程度でポリエステル樹脂の屈折率(屈折率1.6程度)と比較的近く、透明性の高い成形品を得られるという利点もある。 Among these, silica particles are preferably used because of their high hardness and ability to effectively impart surface smoothness. The refractive index of silica particles is about 1.5, which is relatively close to the refractive index of polyester resin (about 1.6), and they also have the advantage of being able to produce molded products with high transparency.
Silica particles can be obtained, for example, by the alkoxide method, which involves hydrolysis and polycondensation of tetraalkoxysilane, or the water glass method or gel method, which involves hydrolysis and polycondensation using sodium silicate as a raw material. The total content of silicon and oxygen elements in the silica particles is preferably 99% by weight or more. Silica particles obtained by these methods may be dried and then baked as necessary. The baking process is usually carried out at about 800 to 1,300°C. The baking process condenses and dehydrates the silanol groups present on the surface, resulting in silica particles with a low silanol group content. Furthermore, impurities can be removed, so a particle-blended polyester resin composition with few foreign matter can be obtained.
[ポリエステル樹脂と粒子の混練]
本発明においては、ポリエステル樹脂と粒子とを溶融、混練するために二軸押出機を用いる。二軸押出機は、二つのスクリューの噛み合い送り力により樹脂のいわゆる食い込みがよく、また混練効果にも比較的優れていて多用されている。
[Mixing of polyester resin and particles]
In the present invention, a twin-screw extruder is used to melt and knead the polyester resin and the particles. Twin-screw extruders are widely used because the intermeshing feed force of the two screws allows the resin to be easily bitten into the extruder and also provides a relatively excellent kneading effect.
なお、本発明における二軸押出機とは、主に溶融及び/又は混練の機能を有するスクリューを二つ備えた装置を指し、その名称には拘らない。例えば、混練機や溶融混練機などと呼ばれる場合もある。
本発明で用いる二軸押出機の二つのスクリューの回転方向は同方向でも異方向でもよい。
In the present invention, the twin-screw extruder refers to a device equipped with two screws having a function of mainly melting and/or kneading, and the name is not limited. For example, it may be called a kneader or a melt kneader.
The rotation directions of the two screws of the twin-screw extruder used in the present invention may be the same or different.
本発明で用いる二軸押出機は、ベント式二軸押出機であることが好ましい。ベント式とは、二軸押出機による樹脂の溶融押出の際に発生する揮発分や水分、ホッパーから巻き込まれた空気などを減圧下、ベント口から除去するシステムを指す。通常、ベント口は押出機の長手方向の中央部付近に一つ設けるが、複数設けてもよい。 The twin-screw extruder used in the present invention is preferably a vented twin-screw extruder. The vented type refers to a system in which volatile matter and moisture generated during melt extrusion of resin by the twin-screw extruder, and air entrained from the hopper, are removed from a vent port under reduced pressure. Usually, one vent port is provided near the center of the extruder in the longitudinal direction, but multiple vent ports may be provided.
The twin-screw extruder in the present invention basically comprises a hopper, a melting section, a vent port, a kneading section, and a die. Resin and particles are supplied from the hopper, and are continuously heated, melted, and kneaded between the rotating screw and the outer wall called a cylinder (or barrel) in the melting section and the kneading section, and are extruded from the die at the tip to be molded or pelletized. The melting section is located on the upstream side (resin supply port side) and is mainly responsible for melting and conveying the resin, while the kneading section is located on the downstream side (resin discharge port side) and is mainly responsible for kneading and conveying the resin. In general, when there is one vent port, the upstream side of the vent port is often the melting section, and the downstream side is often the kneading section.
In the present invention, the upstream end of the screw is referred to as the "base end" and the downstream end of the screw is referred to as the "tip end".
The screw of the twin-screw extruder used in this invention is equipped with parts called elements that are detachably attached to the shaft. Elements can be broadly divided into screw elements and disks. Disk-shaped elements include kneading disks, whose main purpose is kneading, and seal rings, which block the flow of resin and increase resin pressure. The screw elements and kneading disks are closely related to the effects of melting and kneading. Multiple elements are connected together in the axial direction of the shaft to form the main part of the screw, called an assembly or block.
There are many shapes of screw elements. The most basic shape is the full-flight type, which has one or more flights (spiral blades) in a spiral on the shaft body, but a reverse-flight type, which has flights in the opposite direction to the full-flight type, may be used in combination. When reverse-flight types are used in combination, the kneading effect can be improved by the push-back effect of the resin flow. In addition, screw elements that are used include the Dulmage type, barrier type, vent type, double-flight type, semi-flight type, and fractional mixing elements with eccentric axes. While most screw elements are of the concentric type, fractional mixing elements with eccentric axes have a distorted cross-section with respect to the center of the cross-section of the shaft, and kneading behavior different from that of concentric types is also considered. Fractional mixing elements with eccentric axes (hereinafter sometimes referred to as "eccentric fractional mixing elements") are sold, for example, by STEER.
一方、ニーディングディスクは、通常、概ね円形で板状のディスクを軸方向に一枚以上並べて構成されている。スクリューの回転に伴ってニーディングディスクが回転し、ニーディングディスクとシリンダー内壁との間で樹脂が混練される。なお、ニーディングディスクに溶融樹脂の送り機能を持たせる構造とするか否かで送りニーディングディスクあるいは中立ニーディングディスクなどと分類する場合もある。 On the other hand, the kneading disk is usually composed of one or more roughly circular plate-shaped disks arranged in the axial direction. The kneading disk rotates with the rotation of the screw, and the resin is kneaded between the kneading disk and the inner wall of the cylinder . Depending on whether the kneading disk is structured to have a function of feeding molten resin, it may be classified as a feeding kneading disk or a neutral kneading disk.
これらのエレメントは溶融、混練いずれの目的にも使用することができるので、その組み合わせは多岐にわたる。本発明は、これらエレメントの多くの組み合わせの中から、特定の位置に特定のエレメントを有するスクリューを用いた時、初めて所望の効果を高度に達成できるとの知見に基づくものである。 These elements can be used for both melting and kneading purposes, and there are many different combinations. The present invention is based on the finding that the desired effect can only be achieved to a high degree by using a screw that has specific elements in specific positions from among the many combinations of these elements.
That is, the screw of the twin screw extruder used in the present invention is
(1) A kneading disk is provided in the portion from the base end of the screw to the center in the longitudinal direction,
(2) The screw has an eccentric fractional mixing element in the longitudinal direction from the center to the tip,
(3) The screw portion between the kneading disc and the eccentric fractional mixing element has a full flight. That is, the screw of the twin-screw extruder used in the present invention has a screw configuration in which the kneading disc, the full flight, and the eccentric fractional mixing element are arranged in this order from the base end of the screw.
このようなスクリュー構成のスクリューを備えた二軸押出機を用いて、ポリエステル樹脂と粒子とを混練することにより、固有粘度保持率及び粒子分散性を共に高いレベルで達成することができる。このことは従来知られていない新たな知見である。
ここで、スクリューの長さ方向の中央部とは、スクリューの基端から先端までの長さの2分の1の位置を指す。なお、樹脂の流れからみると(1)の部分は上流側、(2)の部分は下流側となる。
By kneading the polyester resin and the particles using a twin-screw extruder equipped with screws having such a screw configuration, it is possible to achieve high levels of both intrinsic viscosity retention and particle dispersibility. This is a new finding that has not been known before.
Here, the longitudinal center of the screw refers to a position half the length of the screw from the base end to the tip end. From the perspective of the resin flow, the portion (1) is the upstream side, and the portion (2) is the downstream side.
The reason why the effect of low heat generation and high particle dispersion can be obtained only in the case of such a specific combination of elements as clarified in this invention is not clear, but it is thought that the kneading disk and eccentric fractional mixing element are combined with other elements, and furthermore, due to the appropriateness of the intrinsic viscosity of the polyester resin, they efficiently exert the desired effect mainly in the melting section and kneading section, respectively, and further, the full flight existing between the kneading disk and the eccentric fractional mixing element full flight contributes to smoother melting and transportation and higher particle dispersion.
In the present invention, any screw that satisfies the above requirements (1), (2), and (3) may be used. When smoother melting or conveying or higher particle dispersibility is desired, other elements, such as a full flight other than the above (3), a kneading disk other than the above (1), or a reverse full flight, may be added as necessary.
For example, in the case where there is one resin supply port for melting, a preferred example of the screw configuration is (resin supply port →) full flight → kneading disk → full flight → eccentric fractional mixing element → reverse flight → full flight (→ discharge port). In the case where there are two resin supply ports, a preferred example of the screw configuration is (
In the present invention, the installation length of the eccentric fractional mixing element is preferably 4 to 30%, particularly 5 to 20%, and especially 6 to 15% of the total screw length. If this value is 4% or more, the intrinsic viscosity retention rate after melting and kneading can be maintained high. Also, if this value is 30% or less, sufficient effect can be obtained while suppressing the proportion of the relatively expensive eccentric fractional mixing element used.
In particular, it is preferable that the eccentric fractional mixing element (2) is provided in a region that is 50 to 80% of the entire length of the screw from the base end side of the screw.
The length of the kneading disc (the total length when kneading discs are provided at two locations) is preferably 3 to 20%, particularly 4 to 10%, of the entire length of the screw. When the ratio of the kneading discs is within this range, excellent results can be obtained in terms of the intrinsic viscosity retention rate and particle dispersibility after particle kneading in combination with the eccentric fractional mixing element.
In particular, the kneading disc (1) is preferably provided in a region that is 20 to 49% of the entire length of the screw from the base end side of the screw.
フルフライトの長さ(フルフライトを2ヶ所に設ける場合にはその合計の長さ)はスクリュー全体の長さの75~90%、特に80~85%とするのが好ましい。フルフライトの割合がこの範囲にあると、適度な滞留時間で搬送されることにより、よりスムースな溶融や搬送、より高度な粒子分散性を達成することができる。 The length of the full flight (the total length if full flights are provided in two places) is preferably 75-90% of the total screw length, and especially 80-85%. If the proportion of full flights is within this range, the material can be transported with an appropriate residence time, achieving smoother melting and transport, and higher particle dispersion.
また、逆フルフライトを設ける場合、逆フルフライトの長さ(逆フルフライトを2ヶ所に設ける場合にはその合計の長さ)はスクリュー全体の長さの0.5~2%、特に0.7~1%とするのが好ましい。逆フルフライトの割合がこの範囲にあると、適切な滞留時間を確保できることにより、より高度な粒子分散性を達成することができる。 When reverse full flights are provided, the length of the reverse full flights (the total length when reverse full flights are provided in two places) is preferably 0.5 to 2% of the total screw length, and especially 0.7 to 1%. If the proportion of reverse full flights is within this range, an appropriate residence time can be ensured, thereby achieving a higher degree of particle dispersibility.
In the present invention, the method of feeding particles to the twin-screw extruder is not particularly limited. For example, a method of mixing the polyester resin and the particles in advance, or a method of feeding the particles after melting the polyester resin can be mentioned.
Furthermore, the configuration of the twin-screw extruder other than the screw configuration and the kneading conditions are not particularly limited as long as they can efficiently and stably perform kneading and extrusion.
The temperature at which the polyester resin is melted, ie, the cylinder temperature, is set to be 10 to 40° C. higher, preferably 15 to 30° C. higher, than the melting point of the polyester resin.
The screw length of the twin-screw extruder is usually about 500 to 3,000 mm.
粒子混練後のポリエステル樹脂組成物の固有粘度保持率は80%以上であることが好ましい。固有粘度保持率が上記下限以上であれば、得られる成形品あるいは次工程のためのペレットの強度を高く保つことができる。 It is preferable that the intrinsic viscosity retention rate of the polyester resin composition after kneading the particles is 80% or more. If the intrinsic viscosity retention rate is equal to or higher than the above lower limit, the strength of the resulting molded product or pellets for the next process can be maintained high.
本発明の製造方法により得られる粒子配合ポリエステル樹脂組成物は、二軸押出機の先端から吐出した樹脂組成物をそのまま成形して成形品としてもよく、また一旦ペレット化して貯蔵し次工程で成形してもよい。次工程で成形する場合は、得られたペレットをそのまま用いて成形してもよいし、希釈のためや機能性(例えば帯電防止、難燃性、酸化防止)付与のため他のポリエステル樹脂をブレンドした後、成形してもよい。 The particle-blended polyester resin composition obtained by the manufacturing method of the present invention may be molded as it is from the resin composition discharged from the tip of a twin-screw extruder, or may be pelletized and stored for molding in the next step. When molding in the next step, the obtained pellets may be used as they are for molding, or may be blended with other polyester resins for dilution or to impart functionality (e.g., antistatic, flame retardant, antioxidative) and then molded.
以下、実施例により本発明をさらに詳細に説明するが、本発明はその要旨を超えない限り以下の実施例に限定されるものではない。
以下の実施例及び比較例で用いたポリエステル樹脂及び得られた粒子配合ポリエステル樹脂組成物は以下の測定方法によって測定、評価を行った。

The polyester resins used in the following Examples and Comparative Examples and the resulting particle-containing polyester resin compositions were measured and evaluated by the following measurement methods.
<固有粘度>
試料約0.25gを、フェノール/1,1,2,2-テトラクロロエタン(質量比1/1)の混合溶媒約25mLに、濃度が1.00g/dLとなるように溶解させた後、30℃まで冷却し、30℃において全自動溶液粘度計(センテック社製、「DT553」)にて、試料溶液及び溶媒のみの落下秒数を測定し、以下の式により、固有粘度(IV)を算出した。

<Intrinsic Viscosity>
About 0.25 g of a sample was dissolved in about 25 mL of a mixed solvent of phenol/1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane (
IV = ((1 + 4K H η sp ) 0.5 - 1) / (2K H C)
Here, η sp = η/η 0 -1, η is the number of seconds it takes for the sample solution to fall, η 0 is the number of seconds it takes for the solvent alone to fall, C is the concentration of the sample solution (g/dL), and K H is Huggins' constant. K H was set to 0.33. The sample was dissolved at 110°C for 30 minutes.
<固有粘度保持率>
粒子混練前のポリエステル樹脂、粒子混練後のポリエステル樹脂組成物の固有粘度をそれぞれ測定し、次式から固有粘度保持率を算出した。この値は高いほどよい。

<Intrinsic Viscosity Retention Rate>
The intrinsic viscosity of the polyester resin before and after mixing with the particles was measured, and the intrinsic viscosity retention was calculated from the following formula. The higher this value, the better.
Intrinsic viscosity retention (%)=(intrinsic viscosity of polyester resin composition after kneading with particles/intrinsic viscosity of polyester resin before kneading with particles)×100
