Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a method for producing resin pellets, and more particularly to a method for producing thermoplastic resin pellets using a twin-screw extruder.
To produce resin pellets, raw materials such as resins and additives are placed in a tank or hopper, then weighed by a feeder to a predetermined amount and fed to an extruder. In the extruder, each raw material is kneaded, heated and melted, and extruded into strands from a nozzle at the tip of the extruder, and the resin strands are cut by a pelletizer through a conveyer or a cooling water tank to produce pellets.
A single-screw extruder and a twin-screw extruder are used as extruders, but compared to a single-screw extruder, a twin-screw extruder has higher productivity and a higher degree of freedom in operation, so production of resin composition pellets A twin-screw extruder is preferably used for.
In recent years, there is an increasing need to improve the production capacity of twin-screw extruders in order to improve productivity. In the twin-screw kneading extruder, increasing the rotational speed of the screws increases the discharge rate, resulting in higher production efficiency. In order to further reduce manufacturing costs, there is a strong demand for manufacturing with a high discharge rate.
However, especially under conditions of high discharge, the shearing force applied to the resin greatly increases, and the resin composition tends to generate heat during kneading. Accompanying this heat generation, the viscosity and elasticity of the molten resin decrease depending on the temperature, and sufficient force is not applied to the resin, so kneadability tends to decrease. In addition, since the resin undergoes thermal deterioration during heat generation, there arises a problem that the color tone of the discharged resin deteriorates.
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object (problem) is to provide a method for producing resin pellets that achieves resin pellets with good color tone at a high discharge rate and with good productivity. .
As a result of intensive studies in order to solve the above problems, the present inventors used a triple eccentric kneading disc as the kneading disc, set the screw rotation speed in the range of 400 to 600 rpm, and set the screw shaft torque density to 11 to It has been found that the above problems can be solved by melt-kneading under the condition of 15 Nm/cm 3 .
The method for producing resin pellets of the present invention is a method for producing resin pellets by melt-kneading a thermoplastic resin using a twin-screw extruder having a pair of screws equipped with kneading disks,
A three-row eccentric kneading disk is used as the kneading disk, and melt-kneading is performed under the conditions of a screw rotation speed of 400 to 600 rpm and a screw shaft torque density of 11 to 15 Nm/cm 3 .
In the present invention, it is preferable that the three-start eccentric kneading disk is a substantially triangular disk with a bulging central portion on each side, and is mounted on the screw shaft so as to rotate eccentrically.
Moreover, it is preferable that the eccentricity is 0.01D to 0.07D (D is the inner diameter of the cylinder) and that it is mounted on the screw.
In addition, in the present invention, the three-start eccentric kneading disc has three peaks with a mutual angular interval θ of 110° to 130°, a radius at the tops of 0.4D to 0.5D, and Preferably, the radius of the central portion is in the range of 0.25D to 0.38D.
Furthermore, in the present invention, the thermoplastic resin is preferably polybutylene terephthalate resin, polycarbonate resin, polyacetal resin, polyphenylene ether resin or polyamide resin.
According to the method for producing resin pellets of the present invention, the melting of the resin is promoted, the resin has excellent melting characteristics under high ejection conditions, and the resin temperature can be lowered. In addition, the method for producing resin pellets of the present invention can produce resin pellets with good color tone at a high discharge rate and with good productivity. Such an effect of the present invention is believed to be due to the fact that the use of the three-stripe eccentric kneading disc generates elongational flow, and the resin can be efficiently melted at a low temperature.
Hereinafter, specific embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.

A kneading disk usually has a kneading zone formed by attaching a plurality of paddles along the axial direction. The number of paddles is preferably 3 to 15, more preferably 5 to 11, particularly preferably 7 to 9. A gap is preferably provided between adjacent paddles, and the gap is preferably 0.2 mm to 2 mm.
The kneading discs are N discs in which multiple paddles are overlapped without shifting, R discs in which multiple paddles are shifted to the right and overlap to generate a forward flow, and multiple paddles are shifted to the left and overlapped in the reverse direction. As the screw configuration, it is preferable to combine these to have a configuration such as RNNL, RRNNL, RRRNL, RNNNL, RRNNNL, etc. from upstream to downstream.
In the method of the present invention, melt-kneading is carried out so that the screw shaft torque density is in the range of 11 to 15 Nm/cm 3 . By setting the torque within such a range, the discharge amount can be increased and the residence time can be shortened. The screw shaft torque density is preferably 12-15 Nm/cm 3 .
In order to detect the torque, a shaft-end type torque gauge may be provided on the rotating shaft of the
Further, in the method of the present invention, the screw rotation speed is set in the range of 400 to 600 rpm. By setting the screw rotation speed within such a range, the residence time can be shortened, and thermal deterioration can be suppressed. The screw rotation speed preferably has a lower limit of 450 rpm or more and an upper limit of 550 rpm or less.
The production method of the present invention uses a three-start eccentric kneading disk, and by setting the screw rotation speed and screw shaft torque density within the above ranges, the eccentric kneading disk has one (or two) vertices due to eccentricity. is close to the inner surface of the cylinder. By using such a three-row eccentric kneading disc, the resin can be melted at a low temperature, the discharge amount can be increased, and the thermoplastic resin pellets used as the raw material for the cylinder can be cut into small pieces, so that it can be used under high discharge conditions. The excellent melting characteristics of the resin and rapid heat conduction enable the raw resin pellets to be melted quickly and the resin temperature to be further lowered. Also, this three-row eccentric kneading disk can be used for the kneading part when reinforcing fibers are fed.

頂部(チップ部)Tのチップ幅dTは5.2mm(0.11D)、チップ部の弧(フランク)の半径は46.1mm(0.981D)である。
[Comparative Experimental Example 1]
Resin pellets were produced and evaluated in the same manner as in Experimental Example 1, except that the following ordinary two-start kneading disc was used instead of the three-start eccentric kneading.
The screw configuration was the same as that of RRNNL and Experimental Example 1, the number of paddles of each double-start kneading screw was 5, and the thickness of one paddle was 8.0 mm (0.170D). .
The angle between the two apexes (tips) is 180°, the radius Da at the apex is 46.1 mm (0.981 D), and the central portion k ( The radius Dk at the shortest distance from y) is 28.8 mm (0.613D). There is no paddle eccentricity, and the eccentricity e is 0 mm.
The tip width dT of the top portion (tip portion) T is 5.2 mm (0.11D), and the radius of the arc (flank) of the tip portion is 46.1 mm (0.981D).

In the RRNNL screw configuration, the R double-start kneading disc is composed of five paddles that are downwardly shifted clockwise by 45° with respect to the center x of the screw shaft. The two-row kneading disc of N is composed of five paddles shifted by 90° with respect to the screw axis x. The two-row kneading disk L is composed of five paddles which are downwardly shifted counterclockwise by 45° with respect to the screw axis x. A gap of 0.5 mm was used between each paddle.
