Description
The present invention relates to a fibrous carbon nanostructure manufacturing apparatus and a fibrous carbon nanostructure manufacturing method.
In recent years, fibrous carbon materials, particularly fibrous carbon nanostructures such as carbon nanotubes (hereinafter, may be referred to as “CNT”), have attracted attention as materials having excellent conductivity, thermal conductivity, and mechanical properties. ing. CNTs consist of tubular graphene sheets composed of carbon atoms, the diameter of which is on the order of nanometers.
Here, fibrous carbon nanostructures such as CNTs are generally more expensive than other materials due to their high manufacturing costs. Therefore, although it has excellent characteristics as described above, its use is limited. Further, in recent years, a CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) method using a catalyst (hereinafter, may be referred to as a "catalytic CVD method") has been used as a production method capable of producing CNTs and the like with relatively high efficiency. It was. However, even with the catalytic CVD method, the manufacturing cost could not be sufficiently reduced.
Therefore, a method has been proposed in which a fluidized bed is formed by a particulate catalyst carrier, and a raw material gas containing a carbon source is supplied to the fluidized bed to synthesize CNTs on the surface of the catalyst carrier (for example, a patent). Reference 1). Specifically, in Patent Document 1, the catalyst carrier is activated by a catalyst activation reactor, and the CNT synthesizer is arranged diagonally downward via a circulation tube attached to the side surface of the catalyst activation reactor. On the other hand, the activated catalyst carrier is supplied. Then, a fluidized bed is formed by the catalyst carrier in the reactor, and a raw material gas containing a carbon source is flowed from below to the fluidized bed to synthesize CNTs on the surface of the catalyst carrier.
Here, in the apparatus according to Patent Document 1, the side surface of the catalyst activation reactor and the side surface of the CNT synthesizer arranged diagonally below are communicated with each other by a circulation tube, and are laminated above the circulation tube in the catalyst activation reactor. The catalyst carrier is configured to flow into the CNT synthesizer. However, in such a configuration, there is room for improvement in the movement efficiency of the catalyst carrier, and further, in order to suppress the inflow of the unactivated catalyst carrier into the CNT synthesizer, the activated catalyst carrier is supported. The body had to be stacked up to a position higher than the connection position of the circulation pipe at all times. Therefore, in the apparatus according to Patent Document 1, it is necessary to improve the moving efficiency of the catalyst carrier and improve the supply efficiency of the activated catalyst carrier into the CNT synthesizer. Further, in the apparatus according to Patent Document 1, when the unactivated catalyst carrier is replenished and added during the catalyst activation, it is necessary to prevent the unactivated catalyst carrier from flowing into the CNT synthesizer. It was.
Therefore, the present invention suppresses the inflow of an unprepared catalyst carrier that has not been subjected to any of reduction, oxidation, and catalyst adhesion treatments into the synthesizer, and at the same time, the prepared catalyst carrier. An object of the present invention is to provide a fibrous carbon nanostructure manufacturing apparatus and a fibrous carbon nanostructure manufacturing method capable of improving supply efficiency.
The present inventors have conducted diligent studies for the purpose of solving the above problems. Then, the present inventors improve the supply efficiency of the prepared catalyst carrier into the synthesizer by adopting an apparatus configuration in which the synthesizer is arranged below the preparer having a tapered lower portion. The present invention has been completed by newly discovering that it is possible to prevent an unprepared catalyst carrier from flowing into the synthesizer.
That is, the present invention aims to advantageously solve the above-mentioned problems, and the fibrous carbon nanostructure manufacturing apparatus of the present invention uses the supplied carrier particles as a catalyst on the carrier particles. It is characterized by including a recovery step of taking out the composite from the fibrous carbon nanostructure synthesizer. According to such a method, fibrous carbon nanostructures can be efficiently produced.
Further, in the method for producing a fibrous carbon nanostructure of the present invention, in the catalyst carrier preparation step, the catalyst material gas is supplied as the first gas into the preparation device and the catalyst material is attached to the carrier particles.

Here, the fibrous carbon nanostructure manufacturing apparatus of the present invention prepares a particulate catalyst carrier in which a catalyst is supported on the carrier particles from the supplied carrier particles, and on the prepared catalyst carrier. By synthesizing the fibrous carbon nanostructure, the fibrous carbon nanostructure can be produced. In the present invention, "particulate" means that the aspect ratio is less than 5. For the aspect ratio of the carrier particles and the catalyst carrier, for example, a value (width orthogonal to the maximum major axis / maximum major axis) of 100 arbitrarily selected carrier particles / catalyst carriers is calculated on a microscope image, and the values thereof are calculated. It can be confirmed by calculating the average value. Further, the method for producing fibrous carbon nanostructures of the present invention can be carried out using the fibrous carbon nanostructure manufacturing apparatus of the present invention.
Further, examples of the fibrous carbon nanostructures that can be formed by using the fibrous carbon nanostructure manufacturing apparatus and the fibrous carbon nanostructure manufacturing apparatus of the present invention include carbon nanotubes and carbon nanofibers. ..

On the other hand, among the above components, Fe, Co, and Ni are components capable of forming a catalyst on carrier particles or metal oxides. Examples of compounds containing such components include tris (2,4-pentandionato) iron (III), bis (cyclopentadienyl) iron (II) (hereinafter, also referred to as "ferrocene"), and iron chloride. Fe-containing catalyst materials such as (III) and iron carbonyl, Co such as tris (2,4-pentandionato) cobalt (III), bis (cyclopentadienyl) cobalt (II), and cobalt chloride (II). Examples thereof include a contained catalytic material and a Ni-containing catalytic material such as bis (2,4-pentandionato) nickel (II) and bis (cyclopentadienyl) nickel (II). In this case, the first gas is usually an oxygen element-containing gas containing 0.001% by volume or more and 10% by volume or less of the vapor of a compound containing at least one element selected from the group containing Fe, Co, and Ni. Can be contained in an amount of 0.01% by volume or more and 21% by volume or less. In addition to these, the first gas may usually contain 69% by volume or more of an inert gas such as nitrogen.
Further, Al and Fe are particularly preferable as the components used for supplying the first gas and supporting the catalyst on the carrier particles. More specifically, if a layer made of aluminum oxide, which is a metal oxide, is formed by steam of a compound containing Al, and an Fe catalyst is supported by such a layer, the catalytic activity of the obtained catalyst carrier is good. Because it becomes.
Further, by supplying the
Further, when the particles to which the catalyst material is attached are supplied to the
Further, in the
When the fluidized layer is formed by the carrier particles and / or the

<1st gas supply mechanism>

<Fibrous carbon nanostructure synthesizer>

<Separator>

(Method for manufacturing fibrous carbon nanostructures)
The method for producing fibrous carbon nanostructures of the present invention is a method for continuously or semi-continuously producing fibrous carbon nanostructures using the fibrous carbon nanostructure manufacturing apparatus of the present invention. In such a production method, a first gas is brought into contact with the supplied carrier particles to continuously or semi-continuously prepare a particulate catalyst carrier on which the catalyst is supported on the carrier particles. The step, the catalyst carrier supply step of continuously or semi-continuously supplying the obtained catalyst carrier to the fibrous carbon nanostructure synthesizer, and the catalyst support in the fibrous carbon nanostructure synthesizer. A growth step of growing the fibrous carbon nanostructures on the body, a recovery step of taking out the composite in which the fibrous carbon nanostructures are arranged on the catalyst carrier from the fibrous carbon nanostructure synthesizer, and including. The method for producing fibrous carbon nanostructures of the present invention can be carried out continuously or semi-continuously. In the continuous implementation, in the catalyst carrier preparation step, the carrier particles are introduced into the preparatory device at a constant rate, the first gas is supplied to the preparatory device at a constant rate and composition, and the catalyst carrier supply step is performed. At a constant rate, the catalyst carrier was transferred from the preparation device to the fibrous carbon nanostructure synthesizer, and in the growth step, the second gas was transferred to the fibrous carbon nanostructure synthesizer at a constant rate and composition. It can be fed to continuously produce fibrous carbon nanostructures at a constant rate. In the semi-continuous implementation, in the catalyst carrier preparation step, the supply rate of the carrier particles to the preparatory device and the supply rate and composition of the first gas to the preparatory device are modulated with respect to time. In the catalyst carrier supply step, the transfer rate of the catalyst carrier from the preparation device to the fibrous carbon nanostructure synthesizer is modulated with time, and in the growth step, the fibrous carbon nanostructure of the second gas is used. By modulating the supply rate to the body synthesizer with time and performing at least a part of the preparation step and the growth step at the same time, the fibrous carbon nanostructure can be produced semi-continuously.
Further, in the method for producing a fibrous carbon nanostructure of the present invention, various treatments can be carried out depending on the combination of the particles supplied as carrier particles and the gas types supplied as the first gas and the second gas. ..
-Semi-continuous operation-
<Catalyst carrier preparation process>
In the catalyst carrier preparation step, the first gas is brought into contact with the carrier particles. In the catalyst carrier preparation step, it is preferable to carry out the step of heating the catalyst carrier in the preserving device in a heated state. Then, in the cooker in a heated state, in the catalyst attachment step, as the first gas, a gas containing one or more elements selected from, for example, Si, Al, and Mg, and oxygen such as oxygen. By introducing an element-containing gas, a metal oxide can be supported on the surface of the carrier particles. Examples of such a gas include aluminum isopropoxide (chemical formula: Al (O-i-Pr) 3 [i-Pr is an isopropyl group-CH (CH 3 ) 2 ]). Then, for example, a gas containing vapor of a compound containing Fe can be supplied as a first gas to adhere the Fe catalyst on the metal oxide. Then, in carrying out the reduction step, a gas containing a reducing gas such as hydrogen, ammonia, or methane is supplied as the first gas to bring the catalyst carrier into a reduced state. Methane can be a carbon source when supplied as a second gas.
<Catalyst carrier supply process>
Then, by reducing the flow velocity of the first gas introduced into the
Here, in the semi-continuous operation, the catalyst carrier supply step can be carried out after the preparation step is completed. Further, after performing the catalyst attachment step in the preparation step, the process may shift to the catalyst carrier supply step without performing the reduction step. The catalyst carrier transferred to the fibrous
<Growth process>
In the growth step, the raw material gas containing the carbon source is supplied as a second gas into the fibrous
<Recovery process>
In the recovery step, the composite of the catalyst carrier and the fibrous carbon nanostructures obtained in the growth step is recovered by using an inert gas as the second gas.
<Separation process>
Then, in the separation step, the complex is separated from the second gas.
-Continuous operation (Pattern 1)-
In the continuous operation, at least the catalyst carrier preparation step, the catalyst carrier supply step, the growth step, and the recovery step can be simultaneously performed. That is, the carrier particles, the first gas, and the second gas are constantly supplied to the
-Continuous operation (Pattern 2)-
A continuous operation can be performed in the same manner as the continuous operation according to the pattern 1 described above, except that the catalyst material gas and the reducing gas are supplied as the first gas. Specifically, the solid particles are supplied to the
