Claims (3)
- 車体フレームが,前輪(Wf)を軸支するフロントフォーク(15)を操向可能に支持するヘッドパイプ(1)と,このヘッドパイプ(1)から後方に延出するメインフレーム(2)と,このメインフレーム(2)の後部から垂下して互いに車幅方向に間隔を存して並び,後輪(Wr)を軸支するリアフォーク(16)をピボット軸(17)を介して上下揺動自在に支持する左右一対のピボットフレーム(6,6)と,これらピボットフレーム(6,6)を車幅方向に貫通するよう両ピボットフレーム(6,6)に同軸上に形成した連結孔(45,45)に嵌挿されて,その両ピボットフレーム(6,6)間に橋渡しされるクロスメンバ(12)とを備え,そのクロスメンバ(12)が前記両ピボットフレーム(6,6)に溶接して結合される鞍乗り型車両において,
前記クロスメンバ(12)を,両端を開放した中空部(12a)を有するパイプ材で構成し,このクロスメンバ(12)の中空部(12a)開放端近傍の内周面(12b)に,外周に筒部(43a)を有して車幅方向内側に凹んだキャップ状のパッチ部材(43)を圧入すると共に,前記内周面(12b)に前記開放端に連なる溶接代(L)を設け,この溶接代(L)の範囲に溶接ビード(44)を収めるようにして前記内周面(12b)に前記パッチ部材(43)を溶接し,
前記クロスメンバ(12)には,前記リアフォーク(16)の上下揺動を緩衝する懸架装置(S)中のクッションユニット(38)の下端部を支持する揺動部材(35)を軸支し,
前記パッチ部材(43)の筒部(43a)の下部には,該パッチ部材(43)の内外を連通する水抜き用の第1切欠き(46)を設けたことを特徴とする鞍乗り型車両。 - 請求項1記載の鞍乗り型車両において,
前記車体フレーム(F)の塗装時,前記パッチ部材(43)の筒部(43a)の下方に来る部分に,該パッチ部材(43)の内外を連通する塗装液流入・流出用の第2切欠き(47)を設けたことを特徴とする鞍乗り型車両。 - 請求項1記載の鞍乗り型車両の前記車体フレームを製作するに当たり,
前記クロスメンバ(12)を用意する工程と,このクロスメンバ(12)の中空部(12a)開放端近傍の内周面(12b)に前記パッチ部材(43)を圧入する工程と,前記内周面(12b)に前記パッチ部材(43)を溶接する工程と,前記クロスメンバ(12)を前記ピボットフレーム(6,6)の連結孔(45,45)に嵌挿する工程と,前記連結孔(45,45)から外方に突出した前記クロスメンバ(12)の外端部を前記ピボットフレーム(6,6)の外側面に溶接する工程とを順次実行することを特徴とする,鞍乗り型車両の車体フレームの製作方法。
