Abstract

771,012. Locks. CHENEY & SON, Ltd., C. W., and CHENEY, C. W. Nov. 21, 1955 [Nov. 20, 1954], No. 33649/54. Class 44. Relates to a key-locked hasp fastening in which the lock member comprises a casing consisting of a front plate 3 having a hasp slot and a back-plate 6, secured together, a spring- loaded bolt 11, slidably arranged between the plates and adapted to be manually operated by means of a knob on the front plate, and a keyoperated locking member 23 rockably mounted on the inner side of the back-plate and adapted to be moved with a snap action into two predetermined positions which correspond respectively to the locking and the unlocking positions of the bolt 11. According to the invention, the back-plate 6 is formed with a lateral upstanding flange 29 which serves as a stop wall to a lug of the locking member in the locked position of the bolt and also forms a buttress to the back-plate. As shown, the locking member 23 is provided with two lugs 27, 28 which in the locking and unlocking positions respectively of the bolt 11, engage the flange 29, thus resisting further turning movement of the locking member by the key. In the locked position shown, the locking member engages an abutment 20 on the bolt 11 while in the unlocked position, the member 23 engages a part 30 of a spring located between the abutment 20 and the adjacent end of the bolt.
