Abstract

607,802. Locks. CHENEY & SON, Ltd., C. W., and CHENEY, C. W. Feb. 12, 1946, No. 4270. [Class 44] In a lock, e.g., an attache-case lock, the back of which is shown in Fig. 1, of the kind comprising front and back plates, a flanged spring- loaded bolt 7, and a key operated bolt locking plate 9, the spring 8 for the bolt is held in the bolt by the flanges and by a lug 7b on the bolt. The lug also constitutes an abutment for the locking plate 9. The pivot 12 for the locking plate and the stops 13 and 13a for controlling its movement are integral with the back plate 4. The locking plate is formed with integral lugs 15, 15a and key stumps 16. When the locking plate 9 is turned in an anti-clockwise direction the nose 17 snaps past the curved part 8d of the spring which then abuts against the side of the nose 17. The bolt may then be retracted against the action of the spring.
