Abstract

[Also in Division E2] In a lock of the kind comprising a manually operable bolt 9 which is coupled to an indicator mechanism which shows whether the door is locked or unlocked the lock comprises a manually rotatable spindle 10 which is adapted to extend through the thickness of a door and which has at one end means to engage and operate the bolt, and at its opposite end, means engaging an indicator panel 3 to move it in rectilinear guides across a viewing aperture 22 in a casing for the panel. As shown, the bolt is operated by a knob 15 through a pin 11 extending from the spindle 10 and slidably engaging a hole 13a in a freely rotatable block 12 located in the bolt, the movement of the bolt being limited by a slot 19 therein. The opposite end of the spindle 10 is connected telescopically to a spindle 6 of the indicator mechanism and operates the panel 3 through a pin 5 which co-operates with a notch in the panel. The free end of the spindle 6 is. closed by a removable nylon plug which allows the bolt to be operated from that side of the door either by the plug or by a suitable key after the plug has been withdrawn.
