Abstract

680,537. Hay-making. LELY, C. VAN DER. May 21, 1949 [June 2, 1948; July 8, 1948; Nov. 20, 1948], Nos. 13629/49, 13630/49 and 13631/49. Class 6(iii) A side delivery rake comprises a series of non-driven rotary rake-wheels 9 floatingly arranged in oblique echelon fashion across a wheeled frame 5. The frameis mounted on land wheels 1, 2, 3, the rear one, 3, of which may be steerable from a driver's seat on the forward cross-member 4. The rake-wheels have pronged peripheries and are mounted on cranks 8 supported by springs 10 from the main frame. The frame may be in two parts 5a, 5b, detachably bolted together at 22 so that the rear part 5b may be swung around to occupy the dotted position, for swathturning. Alternatively a second beam is permanently provided, the wheels 9 on the part 5b being removable therefrom and replaceable on the second beam (dotted position), for swath-turning. In a further modification the centre rake wheels are removable so that the device comprises two spaced units on the same beam 5, for swathturning.
