A swath turner provided with two rake wheels 9, 10 having axes diverging in the forward direction is characterized in that at a distance transverse to the direction of travel a second pair of rake wheels 9A, 10A is provided. As shown, the rake wheels 9, 10, 9A, 10A are mounted on cranked axles 13, 14 and 13A, 14A respectively which are rotatably mounted by means of pins 8, 8A on arms 7, 7A provided with shafts 6, 6A which are rotatably mounted in a tubular member 5 fixed to a tractor frame 2 by means of a connecting member 3. Segments 17, 17A are provided, by means of which the axles may be secured in pre-determined positions. Alternatively the axles may be connected by a spring 19 to a member 18 attached to the segment 17 so that the wheels may yield in a lateral direction. Alternatively a compression spring may be mounted between the axles 13, 14 or 13A and 14A. In a modification the rake wheels are inclined so that the lowermost points are closer together than the uppermost points. In a further modification a running wheel or a further rake wheel may be mounted between each pair of rake wheels or alternatively two rake wheels may be mounted between the wheels 9, 10, or 9A, 10A the wheels being less obliquely disposed and slightly to the rear of the wheels 9, 10, or 9A, 10A. Two pairs of wheels may be mounted on a machine which comprises two frames each carrying one or more rake wheels and joined by a bow-shaped member to which is attached a forwardly extending cam for attachment to a tractor, one pair of rake wheels are pivotally attached on the rear of each frame.
