Abstract

609,164. Rotary engines or compressors. CHKLIAR, J. March 7, 1946, No. 7159. [Class 110 (ii)] A rotary engine or compressor having outwardly-sliding vanes 7 of hardened synthetic resin moulded under high pressure, is provided with a number of eccentric working chambers 5, 6. Rollers may be fitted to the tip of each vane, which is driven outwards by centrifugal force, along a part of its length. Fig. 1 shows a rotor 2, having vanes 7 driven by compressed air admitted through a port 10, and expanding through working chambers 5, 11 and 6 in series, and which is exhausted through an outlet 12. A centrifugal governor 17 acts on a valve 19, controlling the inlet 10, weights 26 acting against a spring 18 through levers. The vanes may be reinforced by canvas.
