Abstract

633,818. Rotary compressors or engines. DENSHAM, C. L., and WINSLETT, B. H. M. April 7, 1948, No. 9773. [Class 110(ii)] In a compressor of the Root's type compression is effected within the casing between the inlet and outlet ports. Gas is taken in through ports 20, 21 and compressed in the rotor recesses until ports 25, 27, in end discs 24, 26, on the rotors, line up with ports 32 in adjustable plates 31 which control the delivery of compressed gas. The effective compression is varied by rotation through an angle of the plates 31 which may be linked together and moved manually or automatically. The outlet ports are connected by a manifold 13. Clearances are provided between the rotors. Each rotor may have one lobe and one recess only. Compression ratios are given in the provisional specification. More than one pair of rotors may be arranged in the casing. The apparatus may be operated as an engine supplied with compressed gas.
