[Class 80 (ii)] In a constant-mesh change-speed gear, facial clutch-teeth on splined clutch-elements 23 engage one of two alternative sets of holes 35 in the side-faces of driving or driven toothed wheels 13 &c., such holes being located at opposite ends of countersunk arcuate recesses 33 in the faces of the wheels to prevent shock on engagement.
