Abstract
495,359. Change speed gearing ; clutches. MAYBACH-MOTORENBAU GES. Feb. 7, 1938, No. 3828. Convention date, March 1, 1937. [Classes 80 (i) and 80 (ii)] The slipping out of engagement of a claw clutch member 8 or a slidable pinion 18 is prevented by forming the splines 9, 17 with one or more inclined surfaces. This is done by bevelling one or both sides for part or the whole, Fig. 2, of the length of a spline or by inclining the spline itself. The inclination of the surfaces is opposite to the direction of rotation when viewed from the driving side.
